Lisana's Life

October 17, 1998

It looked like maybe I was going to have some excitement tonight, but it didn't go very far. I hopped offline around midnight to watch the last half of Deep Space Nine (it's on here from 11:35 PM to 12:35 AM), and shut down the computer. Not five minutes after I got settled in bed, the phone rang. It was over by the computer, so I got up and answered: nobody on the other end. Since I have a cordless, I took it back to bed with me, and half a minute or so later, it rang again. I answered the second time on the off chance that it might have been Jev, woken up by a bad dream. No one on the other end, again. After the third time, I just turned off the ringer.

Still, I was curious, so I got up and sat in my computer chair to watch the end of the show, and watch the lights flash on my modem, indicating that my crank caller hadn't given up hope. I was just thinking of creative things I could do, like turn the computer back on and issue an auto-answer to the modem, but they gave up. Okay, so I don't get mad, I get even. That's what happens when you crank call my number in the middle of the night.

I've turned the ringer back on for now, since I can't see the modem lights from bed, and they most certainly won't wake me up. Anyone know the phone #?? code for finding out who the last caller was? Or is that only for calling the person back? Oh well... I hope they had their fun; it sure livened up my evening! *grin*

The rest of my day was pretty mundane. I played catch-up in the main newsgroup I read, cross-stitched, and watched the rain fall. Jev went to VT's homecoming game, and sounded pretty disappointed when he got back, because Tech (previously undefeated this season) lost to Temple (previously not having won this season). *sigh*

Things seem to be just beginning to mend on the newsgroup, but we lost a couple people along the way, and I'm not sure if they'll be back. Hopefully when things have settled a bit, they'll return.

I know this is short, but it's nearly 1 AM and I should get to sleep. Maybe tomorrow I'll remember to write about tonight's spider incident; I'd all but forgotten it, what with the crank calls. Goodnight....
