Mom and I went out and did the grocery thing this morning, then I played the Railroad Tycoon 2 demo for an hour or two (something Jev and I found over Winter Break), and spent some time trying to catch up on the Journals list. I got sidetracked, of course, reading some of Scot Liles' journal, Medea's Memoirs, mainly his entries about Terminal Girl, and chatted a bit with Gillian too, then ran off for a bath and dinner, and let the computer do some scanning and repairing and all that jazz.
For dinner, I made vegetable stir-fry over rice; nothing fantastic, but it was edible, and some red pepper flakes spiced it up nicely. I picked up a bell pepper and some broccoli at the store, to cut up and have when I get the munchies, and Mom had a bag of the baby carrots in the crisper; now I just need to find some dip and I'll be set for a while. Yes, I want to shed a few pounds and inches, and as they say, there's no time like the present.
I did a little bookkeeping after I ate, then gave the computer a few more things to do, while I stretched out on the floor with my New York Times crossword puzzle book. I didn't fare so well with the puzzles, and my cat wanted me to pay attention to her instead, but I like a challenge, and I got about half of a small puzzle done.
I don't feel that I've accomplished anything particularly useful today, but I feel good about things nonetheless. To be truthful I did get some things sorted out, straightened up, updated or put away, but I still have a lot of clutter lying around, a journal to put back into working order, a cross stitch piece to be worked on, and half a dozen other tasks to be done. I think today wasn't so much getting back on track as getting my motor revved up again so I can start accomplishing things.
Jev just got off work at the university bookstore; they had to stay late to restock after being hit by flood of students needing their textbooks, so he's taking a break for now, snacking and playing a little Railroad Tycoon 2. I wish my computer were fast enough to play it well; I'd go out and buy it so we could play across the net.
I've been thinking about asking Jev if he'd be willing to replace the motherboard and processor for me over Spring Break... my poor system is just barely keeping up with the new games coming out, that I want to play. I could hold out and wait until May or June when Jev and I will finally be together permanently, but then I'd still feel like I'm taking away his computer, if I want to use it to play the games that require something faster than mine. Something to talk about, I suppose.
I'd jokingly mentioned to him last week that I'd like a new laptop computer for my birthday this year, and he gave it some thought and said it was probably doable, but I don't know if I'm patient enough to wait for that; I don't feel like I should upgrade this one and get a laptop though, so I'm not very sure yet just what I want to do.
