we wonder what becomes of the world when we die.
the trees and light, the clouds and rain.
do the colors disappear just as we do?
swallowed by the deceit of the earth
and washed up on the shores of eternity.
we follow the very foundation of our being to the depths of a hell,
and still we cry shepherd's tears.
a thousand lost with how many gained?
we live in this silence,
hoping for the light, for the trees,
for the colors to return and shine upon our soul,
so grey and torn in the twilight of forever.
this world forever spinning as we fall farther and farther
away from the storms of existence.
violence and chaos building their walls,
surrounding the innocence of yesterday,
keeping out the truths of tomorrow.
does the world keep spinning?
keep falling and twisting?
we sit and we wonder,
for each day we have is a day that will never be.
a moment that won't return,
a lifetime, experienced too quickly as
we fall in search of yesterday's light.
08/31/99 Cover Me Now
cover me now
don't show the light
turn off the sun
flip on the night
gather the stars
the very last one
follow their spirits
'til evening is done
cover me now
don't follow through
my halo is broken
reflected in you
answer my prayers
just walk away
for midnight has spoken
hear what they say
cover me now
and all of my sin
pick up the pieces
toss them within
seal up the crevice
pretend not to care
for though the world watches
it's never aware
cover me now
08/31/99 Death Without Parole
we take a life
thrown away in vain
lock it up to torture
and fit all hearts with pain
leaving almost nothing
barely left, his soul
justice we are making
no matter what the toll
sickness and confusion
innocence destroyed
we look upon this life now
as if the meaning's void
sadness in this body
anguish in my heart
for as i sit crying
justice does its part
with hanging of the ages
and fluids of today
we kill the life within us
though not a prayer we say
it blackens every halo
and crushes every soul
by killing we are dying
our death without parole
so listen to the weeping
and hear your neighbor's cry
for if you should ignore them
it could be you who dies
