Castle Desire
Castle Desire
The Darkness of Night
Poem by onmyown
Stand Your Ground
Winter of the Soul
Nestled snugly in rolling hills,
Gray bricks, caressed by ages
Defy time and season,
Await the return of king and his queen.
Wild roses are confetti sprinkles,
Await the day when entwined as crown
Upon amber fire silken tresses
Once again will hail her glory.
Haunting ghosts of empty thrones
Where with loyalty to crown and serf
They ruled the valley side by side,
Whisper, longing.... empty ache.
Mighty sound splits the dusk sky wide,
Rain washes, yet cannot erode, ancient brick,
Green and flowers suckle hungry,
Castles guards, firmly planted.
On early wings of morning breeze
Sun banishes twilight's angry clouds,
Scent of berries and rain stirred clover
The smell of centuries, the essence remains.
Ancient castle bustles with newness,
Damsel's tower; sweet sound of hungry chicks,
Rodents scurry round relics of renaissance,
Mangy dog now calls this home.
Earth slowly still revolves,
Seasons cast off old garments.
Castle desire stands staunchly,
Holding her ghosts; awaiting their return.
