Stand Your Ground
Winter of the Soul
On a dark November evening
When the moon was sleeping elsewhere
Passion took o'er...dreams of leaving
And my soul was suddenly bare
The coldness of the night
Was yet warmer than my heart
Frozen, ice, marble
A heavy weight within my breast
I see your form...surrounded by mist
My soul bereft and broken within
A cry is torn from my unwilling throat
For the loss of my love..my heart..my life
In anguish I fall on bended knee
Weak in the futility of my raging tears
Sick with the emptiness of my tortured soul
Lost to the sanity of this world
And as my mind loses its tender hold
To the bittersweet torment within
I can only feel my pain
And the cold November wind.
