Avon Plate's promotion hopes took a blow yesterday as they went down 6:4 to an inform SB Wanderes who extended their 100% league record. However it was a result that right up until the last 10 minutes could have gone either way. Plate started in great style showing some of their best passing and movement of the season and were rewarded with an early penalty when tony Bowles was brought down following a corner Wanderers had failed to clear. With Bowles receiving treatment it was left to Jerry White to cooly slot home the spot kick.

The goal galvanised Wanderers who struck back quickly, scoring twice in 15 minutes to claim the lead but soon after Yos David intercepted an intended back pass and rounded the keeper to make it level.

Half Time 2 : 2

As the second half started the rain began to fall and an already sticky pitch began to cut up badly. For a while the game see-sawed back and fore with Wanderers taking the lead only to be hauled back by goals from Plates most potent cutting edge Jack Sant. However as the half drew on Plate began to tire and the team lost its shape. SB were quick to take advantage and during the last quarter pulled away to secure a hard-earned win.
