Avon Plate were humiliated on Sunday by a mediocre KK Builders. Cocksure and arrogant after their previous win, The Plate played with all the skill and passion of a poor under seven side pitted against Premiership opposition. From the start KK (helped undoubtedly by a highly dubious ref) played aggressive football. Digracefully The Plate bottled it, players did not take responsabilty for their own game let alone help out team mates and goals poured in from every angle. It could have been more.

It would be easy to blame a biased ref, dirty opposition, and debutant 'keeper for the result. Easy but suicidal. When the going got tough the Plate looked for the easiest place to hide. Only for a brief period after half-time did the Plate put any kind of passing movements together. Their only goal, a free kick by Tony Bowles turned in by a defender on the 6 yard line, came during this period.

For the remainder of the match it was one way traffic. As supporters we can only hope that the team will learn from this game and learn quick. The season is only a fortnight away and any repeat performances will see Avon Plate kicked straight back out of the Bristol & District League after one humiliating season.
