Intro
My name is Jodie, I am 23-years-old and here is the story of how I became the mother of five before I was even twenty.
Part I - Triplets
My mum was delighted when she found out she was expecting twins and even more
pleased when she found out one was a boy. She already had two girls and one
boy. Anyway, she went into labor at nine o'clock on December 31st 1977 and
gave birth to my brother Jordan at 10 to midnight. Twenty minutes later, I
was born, on 1 January 1978. We were joined a month later by my mum's best
friend's son Rider. From day one, the three of us were inseparable and our
parents (who lived right next door to each other) made a room that joined
both houses and the three of us all slept in the same cot.
Part 2 - First Day at School
When we started school, I had to be in a different class than the boys both
I cried so much that I was transferred into the same glass and we shared everything.
But Jordan started making new friends and the drifted away from Rider and
I.
Part 3 - Middle School
By the time we were in middle school, Jordan hardly spent time with us. But it didn't matter cus Rider and I were closer than ever. We kissed each other for the first time when we were ten. The three of us still shared a room.
Part 4 - High School
When the three of us started high school, Jordan fell out with his friends
and started spending more and more time with us. We became inseparable again.
And our parents still allowed all three of us to sleep in the same room, even
the same bed, though everyone knew that Rider and I were now boyfriend and
girlfriend.
Part 5 - Proposal
On my thirteenth birthday, Rider proposed to me and I said yes. I wasn't long
before everyone knew but we were still allowed to sleep in the same room.
Part 6 - Runaways
Two months before my fourteenth birthday, Rider and I left home without a word and made our way to Missouri.
Part 7 - Marriage
As soon as we hit Missouri, we took out enough money, bought a small one-bedroom flat and got married.
Part 8 - The UK
When I found out I was expecting my first baby, Rider and I decided we would move to the UK and caught the next flight out. We soon found a two bedroom flat in Dorset.
Part 9 - Lois + Finola
Soon after the move, we made friends with Lois (35) and Finola (36), two best friends who had once been in my situation. They told me about the place they had stayed when they were teenagers and the six of us went into business together (the other two were Lois' husband Davis (36) and Finola's husband Pip (45). We started bringing kids off the streets and fostering them and helping youngsters who were abandoned or abused.
Part 10 - Pregnant
About two months after we moved to the UK, I found out I was expecting twins and was thrilled cus I couldn't decide whether I wanted a boy or a girl. I later found out that it was a boy and a girl.
Part 11 - Labor
I went into labor, three months early on July 18 1992 but the doctors said
they needed to stop the labor cause neither twins would survive if they were
born so early.
Part 12 - Corbin
Corbin had other ideas though and he actually rushed the labor and just popped
out without any warning. Rider believes that his sister kicked him out but
I just think he couldn't wait. He only weighed 2Ibs and had to be taken straight
into the special care unit. The doctors were going to stop my labor to give
Promise a chance but she decided she wanted to stay inside and the labor stopped.
But I was kept in for three months. I didn't mind though CUs I was close to
Corbin.
Part 13 - Labor
The day before the twins were actually due, I went into labor again.
Part 14 - Promise
Promise weighed in at a healthy 6Ibs which shocked the doctors because they thought she'd be no more than 2 or 3Ibs.
Part 15 - Growing Twins
Because Corbin was so small when he was born, he wasn't allowed home until he was six months old. And two months after he came home, Promise started walking. Promise developed alot quicker than other children her age but Corbin's development was alot slower.
Part 16 - Keiran
Two months before the twins turned one, I found out I was pregnant again. Keiran was born four months after the twins' first birthday.
Part 17 - Mistaken Twins
Because Corbin was still so small, people thought that Corbin and Keiran were
twins, they had no idea that Corbin Promise were twins. Keiran, too, grew
alot faster than his older brother and was even walking before Corbin.
Part 18 - Daniel
Corbin still wasn't walking three years later when Daniel was born.
Part 19 - Max
When I was in hospital having Max; Corbin, Promise, Keiran and Max were being looked after by Lois. The day after the birth, Rider brought the kids in and I was shocked when Corbin walked to my bed. Apparently, he started walking while I was giving birth, he was four years old (but looked about two).
Part 20 - Funny Feeling
Two weeks after I came out of hospital after having Max, I was on the bus
with the kids when this lad got on and I had this funny feeling about him.
He looked at me a couple of times before I got off the bus at Oralie's house.
When we were all in town, I saw the lad again, he was walking toward us. I
thought he would walk right past us but he stopped right in front of us. It
was then that I noticed the small birthmark behind his right ear and realized
it was Jordan.
Part 21 - Catching Up
After hugs and tears, and introductions, I took Jordan back to my place and
when Rider came home, we all did some catching up. Jordan said that he had
had a great lead from somebody living in Dorset and he had moved down here
to look for me. During which time, he had met this girl, moved in with her
and now they had a six-month-old son called Thomas. I also found out that
my sister Debbie now had four kids, my brother Luke had three kids, my mother
had had another baby and my father had died. I was devastated.
Part 22 - Returning to America
Rider and I called our parents who hadn't seen or heard from us in four years and a few days later, we returned to America.
Part 23 - Happy Families
Both set of families were overjoyed to see us again and a party was held.
Part 24 - Moving to the UK
But we weren't in America long and the whole family moved to Dorset.
Part 25 - Dad
Two years later, in 1998, my whole family was caught up in a web of a group of gangsters but soon after all the gangsters were killed or arrested, we were in for another surprise when my dad returned. He said that he had been car-jacked and then left at the side of the road to die. He said that the reason why he hadn't returned sooner was because he had suffered amnesia.
Part 26 - Happy Ending
We now all live close to each other. I live with Rider and our kids in a six-bedroom house. My mum, dad and youngest three siblings live directly opposite. Jordan and my brother Ricky live with their wives and kids right next door. Luke, his wife and kids live a few doors down and Coree and Debbie and their families live across town. And Rider's parents and sister live in the next street.
