BRIBEAR'S DEN Hello, I'm Brian, a 39 year old, native California born in 1968. I'm 5'8", you can see my hair color, and I have bluish eyes. I came out when I was 26 years old. I was raised in Southern California, a town called Ontario. I lived there until i was nine years old, I saw Star Wars in that city. Then I moved with my parents to Oregon. We lived there for 6 years in Beverton, OR, a subburb of Portland. My dad was a roofer, but when the economy bottomed out, he moved back to California, in the centeral valley to a city named Visalia, while my mother and I still lived in Oregon. The distance started to take its toll on the marraige, and we moved down to my dad. After a year in Visalia, we moved to a town 20 miles north of Fresno, called Madera, which is the geographical center of California, and the county of Madera is very simular in shape to the state itself. I lived there for 13 years. Andn it was in Madera that I came out. I got involved with the bears in 1995-96. And in 1997, I competed in the Mr. Golden State Bear contest, held by the Golden State Bears club in Fresno, Ca. And in February 1998, I represented the GSB's at International Bear Rendezvous (IBR), in San Francisco, CA. Although I didn't win, I had a great time. And in August of 1998 I handed my sash over to my successor, Don, who was made Mr. Golden State Bear 1998-99 on August 17th, 1998. I also want to say a big thank you to all my friends who supported me (THANKS GSB's & Sacramento Valley Bears), and to all the great people I met at IBR '98. And a special thank you to Mark. I met Mark at the weekend of August 16th, 1997. We started to chat, then in December of 1997 things turned serious, and we started dating. On Feb. 14, 1998 I proposed. And he said YES! I moved up to live with him in Sacramento, CA. USA, in April of 1998. Here we are at the Dore Ally weekend in '99. This picture was taken by our friend Lynn Ludwig. A good friend and a great photographer. In August 2002, I was asked back to the Golden State Bears, to be a judge for their Bear Frenzy VIII. I can't put into words, how much fun I had. It was great to see all the old bears I knew, and to meet some new ones! It was a wonderful experience, and I cannot thank Kirk enough for persistantly asking me do come back and judge. You guys are a great group of MEN. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! They also, retired the sash, and now give a medal to the winning bear. Thanks to Bill and John for making the sash (I was the first bear to wear it). May you guys all have continued sucess as a club, friends and couples. what to do with the time that has been given to you."
