A Song for Thinking Too Much
Friday, September 27, 2002 (3:05am)
So when I came home tonight (well it was after 1am by then, but details) I popped in my tape of the NBC Must See TV line-up and during Scrubs, a man was following the character J.D. around singing a song that just describes me far too well sometimes. It turns out that it was Colin Hay from the 80's band Men at Work singing one of their songs "Overkill". I tracked down the lyrics to share...
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know will be alright
Perhaps its just my imagination
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat, shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Alone between the sheets
Only brings exasperation
It's time to walk the streets
Smell the desperation
At least there's pretty lights
And though there's little variation
It nullifies the night
From overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat, shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know will be alright
It's just overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat, shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
