Yoga is a discipline comprised of many parts one being the practice of asanas or poses. I hope to expand on the other aspects of yoga as many classes shy away from this to keep from turning people off (and therefore not coming back to the class). I fing this sad as we should not water down any beliefs or teachings to placate others. This very practise can "turn people off".
I had a small piece of wisdom handed to me by my husband regarding the practise of asanas (the poses/postures of yoga). It isn't about trying to attain the perfect alignment, it is about rediscovering your own body's abilities. Somewhere along the line I lost relaxation as the focus, and set the ideal pose as my GOAL instead of the by-product of relaxtion. Maybe this is because of my very goal-oriented lifestyle.
I'll be adding links to yoga pages at some point!
