I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
I assumed Lorna and Irene had come home at some point late last night and would be sleeping it off so I was trying to riddle the fire very gently and quietly, not that this is possible. Over the top of this I thought I heard Lorna's voice coming out of the telephone, she has been known to call me from her bedroom but that was before Tigger chewed the extension cable up. It turned out that they hadn't come home at all and Lauren was due to be dropped off home by her friend's mother. |
I thought then that I'd better get myself dressed at least so that it would appear that Lauren was being handed back to a competent adult. I was doing my outdoor stuff anyway when they arrived and Lauren headed straight for the TV in her room. I had to persuade her quite a lot to come and fill up her wild bird feeder. After I'd repotted the geraniums to bring them in from the winter we had last night's quiche with a whole tin of spaghetti hoops between us. Lorna arrived back shortly after by which time I had retired to the computer to make up a cancellation poster for the next WIT event and a quick press release to the local paper. When I'd done that I turned the computer over to printing Christmas Cards and sat down with the crossword. |
Jan and Lanie and Heather were all over visiting and so there was a big crowd at dinner. Suddenly the party season is upon us and I'm not sure how many parties are happening, seems like there is a desire to have one here in place of the WIT event on Friday, one on Solstice, one on the Pagan New Year (Tuesday) and I'm sure there's another one I've forgotten about. Having one here is ok but Irene now wants the raeburn room decorated before then, which gives us four days. Four days is just about how long I think it will take if we all apply ourselves to it but whether that can actually happen given the restraints of time and other expected or unexpected commitments is another thing. Later this evening I've spent the time worrying about whether I'm making a libelous statement in the press release and trying to find someone who knows a friendly lawyer that would give free advice on a Sunday evening. Is there such a thing, for a moment it seemed that there might be but I just missed her, gone on holiday for two weeks. The silly thing is that it probably won't even get a centimetre of column space anyway. |
