I started doing this diary in June, it's quite new. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick
low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.
I was worried that I might have to go chasing off down to Swansea today in pursuit of strap foam. I was sent two spare straps for my arm with no protective foam and when I phoned on Monday Peter the prosthetist wasn't there and I had spoken to another prosthetist who seemed to think I would have to go down there and have it fitted on. However Peter said he would just post it and I can stick it on with evostick. Now I just have to hope that it get here by Friday. The major annoyance though is that the plane tickets arrived and were hopelessly wrong. I had one of those completely frustrating conversations with the travel agent which got me nowhere except that the airline is supposed to send me another set of tickets by Friday so that I don't end up returning to Gatwick. And instead of flying via Chicago we are now going via New York and Cleveland which is not what I had intended at all.
Since I didn't have to go to Swansea I took the chance to go and see a bunch of wimmin I know who are camped just down the road. I had the dogs in the car and was intending to go up to the lake and when I got there a lot of them were planning the same thing so we ended up in a four car convoy up to the lake. This lake is located in forestry and we have all been using it for years and years...all the locals use it, hang out there, swim naked, camp out etc., I had been up there at the weekend. So it was very disturbing when we were stopped on the final approach track to the lake by some bloke in his car who came over and started on about private land and said he was the forestry manager and no one was allowed up to the lake any more. There was a lot of 'discussion' going on, several of the crazies had got out of the cars by this stage and not all were being entirelly polite. He refused to provide any identification and had no way of forcibly removing us so everyone except the drivers walked up to the lake and we all turned around, went to another parking place and walked. Nothing happened, the police didn't show up, but it was all very odd. There was a family there who I had met at the weekend and I talked to them and they said he had asked them to leave as well but they weren't taking any notice either. They are local and have been going to the lake for 15 years. I do find it hard to understand that sort of thing. Apart from that it was nice to be at the lake, I wasn't plagued by the flies like I was at the weekend and it's always nice to be there in a crowd of wimmin. The dogs had a fantastic time chasing each other around in and out of the water and across the rugs, through the food, shaking over everybody etc.
Chose not to stay with them to eat even though a big communal feed was going down but came back with the dogs and got online to try and organise my post-festival travellings a bit and was lucky to catch all the people I wanted to talk to at the same time. I may or may not know what I am doing or where I am going before I leave but I'm sure it will all work out in the end.
