Bluehook's Diary

I started doing this diary in June. If you haven't been following have a look at the Cast of Characters which gives a quick low down on the essential day to day characters who are mentioned here...it will make more sense if you do.


I really meant to get up earlier but somehow didn't and Clare finally got me out of bed when she phoned through about 11.00 am to ask if she could come over and get her film script typed up. So then I was out of bed and got the fire going and fed the horses before Clare got here and phoned the artificial limb centre to see if I could go down there on Wednesday to get my socket adjusted because it's hurting me like hell round my elbow. It had snowed overnight and it was still doing it a bit and all the trees and wires were covered in powdery white fluffy stuff and it looked like a fairy garden out there.
Clare arrived and I typed up her script for her and a letter and we had some lunch and then I started to make a birthday banner for Lauren who was having a party in the Church Hall after school. Of course that took longer than it should have and the ink cartridge ran out half way through and I didn't have a spare and had to refill it from the syringes. In the meantime Lorna and Lauren had set off for the hall leaving me to bring the sausage rolls out of the oven and a pile of shopping they had left in the car from earlier. Eventually the last letter came out of the printer and I set off for the Hall where there was already quite a mob of screeching kids gathered. Lorna was in the kitchen with a pile of sandwiches and I got the banner taped together and hung up and got Clare onto hanging up the UV light and various other adults were persuaded into doing things they probably didn't really want to do. The kids dived into the food as soon as it was on the table and then various party games followed and then the cake and a bit more running around screeching and then it was time to pack it all up and sweep up the streamers and bits of sausage roll and cake and paper and stuff that was all over the floor by then.
When we got home Irene was here with Sophie and Hansi and Lauren's mum was on her way with Nick so it was promising to be quite a busy evening. I'd been trying to get through to Heather for ages and she finally called me and gave me a job which needs done by 4.00 pm tomorrow but I couldn't quite face it and left it till the morning. Then I went off for a bath but there wasn't really enough water so I put on the immersion heater and did the job for Heather while I was waiting and then went off for the bath and to bed.
