Site Building Tools Page As a complete beginner at his sort of thing I have had to make use of a wide range of tools. To say that putting this site together with out these programs would have been difficult is a real understatement.
So this is just my little way of giving credit where credit is due. |
HOMESITE v4.0 Allaire Corporation Having tried them all, Homesite is the HTML/Site building package I finally went with. In my view it strikes the right balance between price, power, efficiency and usability. This little gem is a real must for all you budding web site builders. Available for Windows 95 and NT 4.0. For more information and the software check out http://www.allaire.com |

FrontPage98 Microsoft Corporation Microsoft's "tour-de-force" when it comes to putting together web sites. I have to admit I wanted to use FP, however, I ended up sticking to the more agile "Homepage" for the majority of this web site build. However, where FP is invaluable was in checking out all those links and call backs. Check full product out at the Microsoft site, http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/. |

Internet Explorer v5 Beta 2 Microsoft Corporation The Internet Explorer, available in many different flavours (3.11, NT, 95, MAC, Unix(ish)] and its free - for now. An absolutely brilliant product, especially the new v5 feature of "Save as true html page", which dumps any pages' html and images into a tidy little bundle on to you local machine. For the most up to date information dive into the Microsoft site at http://www.microsoft.com/ie4/ |

Image Composer Microsoft Corporation I tried to keep quiet about this little gem whilst dazzling all at work with wonderful photo-montages. Well the secret is out. Image Composer from Microsoft is the Bee's knees when it comes to usable photo manipulation tools. Unfortunately its curerntly only bundled with Frontpage. Maybe in the future they will be decoupled or MIC issued as part of a future Office release. Check out the MS site at http://www.microsoft.com/imagecomposer |

PaintShop Pro JASC Trusty image manipulation work horse now at version 5.0. No self respecting system should be with out it - especially for its integrated thumbnail browser. For further information plus the latest downloadable version check out the JASC homepages on http://www.jasc.com/. |

WebRazor Ulead Not a single program but a collection of graphic/web manipulation tools. I have tended to make particular use of the Smartsaver tool, which seems to be able to boil graphic files down to next to nothing with out degrading the quality - No idea how it does it so effectively but I am just glad it does. Other tools like the GIF animator make generating those annoying, moving GIFs a piece of cake. A great collection of tools at a great price. Check the whole package (plus added frebies) out at the main Ulead site, http://www.ulead.com/. |
