Wow, it's been three years since I last updated this page with anything substantial. Forgive me. It's just that the cares of this life tend to take over, and as Jim Croce said about a thousand years ago, "There never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them."
Tim and are still together and growing more and more fond of each other. I'm so happy God allowed us to find one another. It is a good thing to share a life together. I guess we're becoming pillars of the community. I mean we've been together more than four years. But we're not really poster children for anything. We've become quite the homebodies, and that's a good thing. We seldom go out to bars, but do once in a while. We enjoy going to dinner with friends and watching movies. We'd like to make more of a commitment, but the current efforts to write discrimination into the US Constitution via the Federal Marriage Amendment threatens to make us always be second class citizens. It's not fair. We have to fight this amendment. Some say it doesn't stand a chance, but never under-estimate the power of forces of fear, hatred, superstition, and intimidation. You can speakup on the issue. Despite the frustrations we face, and although not perfect by any stretch, my relationship with God seems to be improving. This may be due to our involvement in a local church. Early in 2003, a friend invited us to attend the first service of a brand new church in Chapel Hill. Being very found of our friend, Tim and I decided to attend, though we really weren't all that interested in committing to a church. Oddly enough, it's been more than a year, and we haven't missed many services. Chapel Hill Christian Church is a fabulous place for socially conscious Christians to worship. It's a very warm and ecumenical place. Pastored by three loving individuals, we are encouraged to love as Jesus did. We're still amazed by the love we experience and by the fact we're still going to church--and I'm on the church council!!! So that's where we are. I'll try to update this again, soon. |
