Lucy at the Royal Ascot

The trip to Ascot was arranged as for the two previous years by the wonderful Linda Edwards. It was originally planned for Ladies Day on Thursday, but was switched to the Wednesday. On Tuesday evening I drove to Linda's house where several of the other girls had already arrived. We had supper and drinks and two of the girls, Vicky from Wayout and Sophie from whose website I had first learnt about the trip, were appearing on a TV(!) chat show, "Littlejohn Live" on Sky One. I was too excited by then to stay up to watch it, but it was apparently a great success with the host and the audience being sympathetic. Vicky finished the show by singing a song with a seven piece band.

Next day we all got up very early and Linda helped me with my make-up. We were all dressed and ready to go by 10 am. I wore my outfit and hat from Doreen Fashions and shoes and handbag from K Shoes. The party comprised 16 TG girls and eight lovely people driving the cars, preparing and serving the food and drink, taking photos and generally supporting us in a marvellous way. We were also accompanied by a television crew who were to film and interview us throughout the day for a programme in a series on Modern Britain!

I travelled in a stretched limousine sitting in the front with Vicky, Steffan and Angela in the back. We were all very excited and there was lots of girlish conversation about outfits, hats and the likely reaction to so many TG girls at such a prominent social event.

On the way we stopped at the Travelodge Hotel near Heathrow Airport to collect two more girls and arrived at Ascot before the main crowds at 11 am.
