- National Park Service
- National Trails System - National recreation trails are existing trails recognized by the Federal Government as contributing to the National Trails System. They vary in length, terrain, difficulty, and accessibility. These trails are managed by public and private agencies at the local, state, and national levels and include nature trails, river routes, and historic tours.

- The Backcountry Homepage - To provide the users of the Internet with a source for backcountry related information. The BHP will attempt to organize and archive the backcountry related information found across the Internet.
- The American Discovery Trail - it passes through metropolitan areas like San Francisco, Denver, Cincinnati and Washington DC, traces numerous pioneer trails, leads to 14 national parks, 16 national forests and visits more than 10,000 historical, cultural and natural sites of significance! This 6,356-mile trail is itself a national landmark in-the-making.

- Coastwalk - promotes the completion of a continuous, border to border California Coastal Trail and sponsors coastal walks and day hikes.
- The National Park Service - Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance - A program to assist in planning new trails in your community.
- Rails-to-Trails Conservancy - Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a 10-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching America's communities and countryside by creating a nationwide network of public trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.
- The Tahoe Rim Trail -
The Tahoe Rim Trail is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the planning, construction and maintenance of a 150-mile hiking and equestrian trail which follows the ridge tops of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Passing through six counties in two states, this loop trail incorporates a portion of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.
