As per section 5(q) of the Terms of Service
with Yahoo! GeoCities, this is a non-commercial site, and therefore advertising outside the programs they already have in place is not permitted. If you wish to promote your own site or an outside service you may sign the Croydon Comments and leave the URL. Please be aware, however, such inclusions are at the sole discrection of webmistress.

- No. Chamber and Chamber members were originally given the opportunity to benefit by being the focus.

Croydon covers a wide area, many businesses and home-based concerns, and I'm sure you appreciate contacting each and everyone individually is a rather extensive, expensive undertaking.
Until such time the community becomes more net-aware, promotion by others as they realise the benefits is limited or non-existent. Recognising hits from this directory by a listed webpage is one example, acknowledging customer feedback another.

- Utilising various search engines and web-based resources - ie - surfing !
You may already be linked through some association or larger body, and have never been advised or aware of what information is already available.
If your telephone number is listed, you are already locatable through telephone directories on the Internet.
- How do I add myself ?
- Use the Online Submission form or email direct from base of relevant page(s). Providing you are within Croydon 3136 your verified details will be added with the next update. Phone 9725 4343. For Community Profiles please provide a brief statement, and image if available.
CCCI members may also contact the Croydon Chamber of Commerce and Industry
direct regarding their members company profile page.
- How is my information used ?
- Information published here is/has been relayed either in person and/or by post, telephone, fax, or email.
Information will not be sold or relayed to a third party. Requests to withold personal email or addresses are honoured, and will only be used in direct contact from webmistress.
Information is entered into fully cross-referenced database with status, industry, listed pages, HTML, dates, referral, contact details and correspondence copies via formalised management system. Furthermore all addition/update/alteration notations are against a reference number for anonymity.
Email addresses are embedded to deter 'harvesting' by spammers.
Free web-based email provides an additional marketing tool preserving your personal account, with abuse@croydon.net registered with SpamCop.
All entries are personally verified, and currently only those with e-mail facilities are immediately notified of updates and alterations.

- Framework laid March '97 with first fifteen pages published April 8, '97.
Original concept was presented to Maroondah City Council April 8, 1997, and Croydon Chamber of Commerce & Industy June 4, 1997.

- On this site - Nothing. It would be nice to receive feedback, though. Even nicer to receive an enquiry in my business email !

- It's a directory, not a showcase for gadgets.
To be accessible to the widest possible audience, viewable across all platforms, content has been given more importance here than effects.
Many outlaying (country) areas within Australia are further restricted and find browsing with images 'off' reduces loading time and volume costs. Nor do all public access points (eg. Public Libraries) provide or allow software for the latest applications.

Previously, as a CCCI committee member, details for members page and individual profiles were obtained at committee meetings. As an ordinary member I will rely on direct communication, so please contact me if updates not processed in a timely manner.

'Getting on the net' in September '95 was exciting for me. A way to use my extensive business, personal and networking skills to communicate globally.
My family moved to Croydon in '62, and I've lived at the same address since '79. My first business - Bulk Handling Australia - was created here.
There have been many individuals and mentors gracious enough to support and encourage me, and reinforce my belief in a free, fair, non-political resource which benefits the entire community. Reference is made to them on the 'friends' page.

Being a non-profit organisation with limited funds, free internet facilities were used. Promoting the Chamber, encouraging CCCI membership, providing separate profile pages for current financial chamber members and assistance with internet-related matters has always been my membership contribution.
