The last remaining brick street in the area graces downtown Shawnee. The street expands a 2-block section with Main Street to the North and Shawnee Mills to the South. It has required no repair and all bricks are still in tact. This short section of South Bell Street has been left untouched as a token reminder of downtown's original luster. |

This tiny log cabin was the first home built in Shawnee. Constructed, owned, and occupied by the town's first settlers, the Beard family. The cabin had remained entirely in its original condition until loosing its roof to the high winds of a tornadic storm in 1997. The roof was re-constructed to the original design. Though slight water damage occured in the storm, all furniture and interior decore' remains in tact. The cabin is fully-furnished, just as it was left by the Beard family. Though it remains locked, the interior of the bottom level can be viewed through the windows. |

Though it may not be world-renowned, the Hamburger King is certainly famous in these parts. Still in its original location, this little diner has been serving some of the best hamburgers since 1927. Just before noon, every day of the year, every booth and each stool at the counter is filled, with many patrons lining the back hall, awaiting a vacancy. Only the most necessary modern appliances have replaced those of the 1920's. For the most part, walking into the Hamburger King is like traveling back in time. |

These words formed in brick on the upper facade of the building are all that remain as proof of the building's original purpose. Long before the creation of motion pictures, Opera Houses were the prime entertainment of early America. |

"Memories, they can't be bought, and
They can't be won at the carnivals for free ~
It took me years, to get those souviners,
And I don't know how they slipped away from me..."
