Seven titans decided not to involve themselves with
the creations of their brothers and sisters, but instead to turn their attentions to thier own cousins, the mighty
giants whom they were modeled on. When Attrice was banished to the skies, the giants were left without a paternal
leader and without guidance. The titans took the giants and became their gods.
Before the titans created the humans and humanoids,
the giants were free to live where they liked. Although they were Attrice's second class children, they still lived
well in the best areas of the world: the beatiful forests, next to the largest lakes, surrounded by loads of wild
game.
With the coming of the children of the titans, the
giants were forced to choose their domains. The strongest and most powerful giants settled on the highest peaks
of the Storm Mountains, taking the name Storm Giants. Others lived in great castles above the clouds, Cloud Giants.
Yet another selcuded themselves beneath the frozen wastes of the Isle of Ice, the Icelings.
For a majority of the giants, the arrival of humanoid
and goblinoid races meant a scramble for land. One group quickly staked their claim in the Stone Mountains, the
Stone Giants, while several of the weaker groups combined to take over the Giant Hills, the Firbolgs, Verbeeg and
Hill Giants. Several tribes within the Wild Forest were called Wood Giants.
The most common solution was moving to a less populated
area, for peace from the peserting "little ones". Those that took up residence in the Great Desert were
called Desert Giants, further south in the Low Hills resided the Lowland Giants. To their west, along the coast
of the North Sea was the Reef Giants.
The Fog Giants took refuge far in the eastern swamps
and murky wetlands, the Jungle Giants in the Great Jungle. To the north, the Frost Giants inhabited the Cold Plains
and the Copper Glaciers. The Montain and Fire giants fought for space in the large montain ranges to the southeast.
Others spread throughout Terra Dyne, taking refuge
in any mountianous or hilly area they could find. They fought great prejudice from the humans and humanoids who
feared the large beings would eat their cattle or ruin they way of life in some other ways. The giants soon began
to die off as large groups hunted them for sport as they would animals.
It started in the far south, where many giants had
taken up residence in the Skytouchers. Josha Abdul Anam led an army of humanos against the giants around 1600 g.d.,
killing many and forcing the rest to migrate into the lowland and desert areas, then uninhabited by humans.
Not until 6160 did the humans encroach on that land
of the giants, attempting to push out the large creatures after having depleated much of the resouces of the mountains.
By 6420, the humans led an all out decimation of the giants until only a few were left alive. Small groups stayed
firmly embedded in the Low Hills, while the Desert Giants became nomadic race and enemy of all humankind.
In 6712, the tribes of Highland, dwarven and human,
united against what they feared to be their greatest enemies, the giants who made their homes in the Fortress Mountians
and Upper Hills. Meanwhile, the ettins and cyclops had been decimated as well, only a few surviving in small groups
spread throughout Terra Dyne's mountainous regions.
The Icelings remained the largest mystery of the
giantish races until 6732, when a group of adventuers, following the trail of a mad wizard, found the city beneath
the ice erected millenia before by the Icelings. The evil wizard had convinced the peaceful creatures that they
adventurers were his enemies, and their enemies. The heroes succeeded in dissuading the giants otherwise and captured
the wizard. The Icelings have started to become member of the outside world, even sending one of their best warriors
to compete in The Games in Saberhaven.
