Battle Zone Guidelines: Major Characters

An Encounter!

I am not a HUGE fan of letting people play "major" characters (those from the movies and books). The reason is that the characters are subjected to that person's views of how the characters act, and very rarely live up to how the character would truly act according to the opinions of others.

Because the major characters are so powerful, and influential in what Star Wars has become to all of us, I have come up with a system that may seem unfair to some. I will apologize ahead of time for any offense that anyone feels, but I feel that this has become necessary.
Essentially, anyone who plays a major character (or who wants to play a major character) is potentially on the chopping block. Every six months I will ask for an evaluation of the major characters who are being played. The evaluation will state:

A) How enjoyable is it to read what this person writes for the character?

B) Should the player be allowed to continue writing for that character?

C) (In the case of a player wanting to start writing a major character) Is the player capable of writing said character and maintaining that character's established personality?

D) Is the character one that just shouldn't be controlled by a player?

If you are a new participant on the Battle Zone, I strongly recommend that you not ask to play a major character. The reason behind this is because you are an unknown presence and your writing style will not be evident to us.

The first vote was held on July 16, 1998, so the votes for major characters will be held every July and January 16th. This will take place regardless of my presence, as administered by my appointed back-up administrator.

The counting of votes will be done by myself two other participants chosen at random.

REGARDING THE YUUZHAN VONG

Many people have asked if the Yuuzhan Vong will be used on the Star Wars Battle Zone. The answer is, of course, no. The Yuuzhan Vong are part of the extended universe in the novels. As BZ characters, they would not necessarily be any better than any other character; however, the advantage for them rests in their technology. Because they seem completely overwhelming in the novels, allowing their presence on the BZ would completely unbalance the storylines here.

I do not intend to ever change my mind on this subject. Perhaps when the NJO series draws closer to a certain outcome, and we know more about them, a few Yuuzhan Vong may become allowed.
