Incarnations of Immortality series
On a Pale Horse
When Zane shot Death, he learned, too late, that he would have to assume his place, speeding overthe world riding his pale horse, and ending the lives of others. Sooner than he would have thought
possible, Zane found himself being drawn to Satan's plot. Already the Prince of Evil was forging atrap in which Zane must act to destroy Luna, the woman he loved...unless he could discover the onlyway out....
Bearing an Hourglass
When life seemed pointless to Norton, he accepted the position as the Incarnation of Time, eventhough it meant living backward from present to past. The other seemingly all-powerful incantations of Immortality--Death, Fate, War, and Nature--made him welcome. Even Satan greeted him withgifts. But he soon discovered that the gifts were cunning traps and he had become enmeshed in a complex scheme of the Evil One to destroy all that was good....
With a Tangled Skein
When the man Niobe loved was shot, she learned that she had been the target, in a devious plot of the Devil's. Hoping for revenge, she discovered, too late, how intricate his scheming was, and that he had managed to trap her son and her granddaughter, Luna. Niobe's only chance to save them was to accept a challenge by the Prince of Deceit--a challenge to be decided in Hell and in a maze of Satan's devising!
Wielding a Red Sword
Mym was a dutiful son, but rather than agree to his father's choice for his marriage, he took up the Red Sword, symbol of office of the Incarnation of War, in order to ameliorate some of the suffering caused by Earth's constant petty wars. But Mym discovered that Satan was waiting to trap him, and he must now take desperate measures to outwit the evil genius who aimed to destroy the world....
Being A Green Mother
Orb had a rare gift--the magic which manifested whenever she sang or played her harp. No one could resist her music. But she knew that greater magic lay in the Llano, the mystic music that
controlled all things. The quest for the Llano occupied Orb's life. Until she met Natasha, handsome and charming, and an even finer musician. But her mother Niobe came as an Aspect of Fire, with the news that Orb had been chosen for the role of Incarnation of Nature--The Green Mother. But she also warned of a prophecy that Orb was to marry Evil. Could she be sure that Natasha was not really Satan, the Master of Illusion, laying a trap for her...?
For Love of Evil
The human who becomes the incarnation of evil, Satan, is troubled by the nature of good versus evil and decides to end it all in a death duel with God.
And Eternity
As the story begins, Orlene has died, joining forces with Jolie and Vita. Together, these three women will test the limits of morality.
The Apprentice Adept series
Split Infinity
On the technological, decadent world of Proton, someone was trying to destroy Stile, serf and master Gamesman. His only escape lay in Phaze, a world totally ruled by magic. Soon he learned that his alternate self had already been murdered, and that he was next. On Proton, his fate depended on winning the great Games. On Phaze, he must master magic to survive. And if he used any magic at all, his friends were determined to kill him at once!
Blue Adept
Stile discovers life on Proton and Phaze is getting more difficult. On Proton he's a serf trying to prove his right to exist by competing in the Great Games. And on Phaze, where only magic worked, he was the Blue Adept trying to master the powers of sorcery. On both worlds, someone was trying to assassinate him. And as if that weren't enough, he has to win the love of Lady Blue, fight a dragon, discover the ultimate weapon, and of course, seek out the all-powerful Citizen who was trying to kill him!
Juxtaposition
Stile had problems on two different worlds. On Proton he was threatened with murder, and on Phaze, an alternate world ruled by magic, he had to master magic, fight a dragon, win the friendship of a lady unicorn, locate his enemy among the paranoid Adepts and return out of Phaze to win the Great Games on Proton. After that, he was ready to face the real problems!
Out of Phaze
Mach is a self-willed robot from the technological world of Proton. Bane is an apprentice wizard from magical Phaze. When an accidental mind-switch plunges each into the other's world, they must survive the hazards of the Phaze-Proton power struggle, as well as the hazards of love!
Robot Adept
Proton and Phaze, parallel worlds of science and magic, are ripe with the seeds of revolution. Mach, a brave and sensitive robot from Proton, and his alternate self, magical Bane from Phaze, hold the power to link the two warring systems--or to destroy them entirely!
Unicorn Point
Neither the magic of Phaze, nor the technology of Proton, can save the parallel worlds from a ruthless takeover. The fight for freedom must be waged by Mach and Bane, robot and wizard, linked
between worlds. But they are not the only ones with this strange ability. For their children have been born--each possessing powers the enemy could never imagine.
Phaze Doubt
With most of the inhabitants of the planet Phaze/Proton incarcerated or in hiding from a hated enemy government, the job of saving this endangered planet falls to Nepe and Flach, two children with special magical powers.
Other books by Piers Anthony
Tales From the Great Turtle
by Piers Anthony (Editor), Richard Gilliam (Editor)
Anthony didn't edit this book, as he gracefully acknowledges at the get go. He just lent his name and contributed a short story. Gilliam solicited the manuscripts, read thousands of pages of fantasy based on Native American themes and images, and made the selections. May the shrewd move of getting the famous Anthony to sign on as coeditor benefit a fine book that might otherwise have eluded its readership. The writers--some widely known, some publishing for the first time--include both Native Americans and others inspired by Native American tradition. Although generically fantasy, that label slights these stories rich in spiritual insight and genuine vision: in "The Bison Riders," Brad Linaweaver's half-blood hero finds reconciliation between his two racial heritages in time travel induced by a medicine woman; in Merle Apassingok's "Nuniva," a convict serves his time in a hologram of arctic exile; in Nicholas DiChario's hilarious contribution, Indians enact ancient myths in a post-ecoholocaust world of buried 7-Elevens from which they extract magical implements--like Bic firesticks. An unusual, intriguing collection
If I Pay Thee Not in Gold by Piers Anthony & Mercedes Lackey.
Join fantasy superstars Piers Anthony and Mercedes Lackey in a marvelous adult fantasy that examines the war between the sexes and the ethics of desire. In the Age of the Mazonians, women rule through magic--and men suffer what they must. When Xylina sympathizes with the men, she is ordered by the Queen to publicly conquer the most glorious male in the land.
