Gateway to the Gnomes
There are Woodland, Dune, Garden, Farm, and House Gnomes. Gnomes are up to 3 feet tall. They will often have slight pot bellies, but their industrious nature keeps them from gaining a Hobbit like paunch. Most male Gnomes will sport a beard or goatee although they do not tie a deep significance to it. They do take pride in their enormous noses (often fully twice the size of any dwarf or human's). Gnomes run much faster (up to 35mph), jump higher, are 7 times stronger than man and have better sight than a hawk. Their feet are somewhat pigeon toed which gives them an extra edge on speed and agility through the wood and grass. They are in their prime of life at 275 yrs. old. Their life span is approximately 400 yrs. Gnomes usually get married at the age of 100 yrs. The married couple will only have one set of twins; a boy and a girl. Gnomes maintain close contact with animals and speak animal languages. Because of their love for animals, all the animals of the forest are the Gnome's friends and are willing to help him at any time. If you see a Gnome, he might very well be riding on the back of a fox, flying with a hawk, or even riding on the backof a frog. The gnome's natural enemies are cats, martins, snakes, goblins, and trolls.
Gnomes are very concerned with the immediate world about their homes and care for it tenderly. When they are done with their work for the day they will turn to their crafts, hobbies, families, and ale for fun and entertainment. Gnomes, while comfortable underground, have a strong preference to being above ground and out in the sun amongstgreen, growing things. They are in most ways a down to earth, gentle, and even tempered people.
