SPOILER WARNING: The "Red Ribbons" campaign covered several canonical secrets. Some were altered from their canonical forms; others were not. If you don't want to know, don't read the game logs or the "For GMs" resources.
Welcome to the homepage for the Red Ribbons RPG. Red Ribbons is a 7th Sea game set in an analogue of Renaissance Italy. We are looking to be heavy on the intrigue, mysteries, and romance, and perhaps a little lighter on the swashing of actual buckles.
Our Story Thus Far
The Donati family have served the Mondavi princes of Vodacce for generations - many, many generations. In 1088, when Lorenzo Island disappeared and the family fell, the nephew of King Vinchenzo Lorenzo left on the mainland put his land, his family and his name into the service of Prince Mondavi. In token of this, the prince gave him and his family a new name: "Donati," from the Vodacce dona ti, "he gives to you," to always remind the Lorenzos that they came, willingly and as a gift, to him.
Restless ghosts from the past have finally been put to rest. Jealous and prideful Tomasso is dead of his own ambitions; Don Antonio, the legitimized bastard head of the household, and his half-brothers are finally at peace, after many years of turmoil. United, the brothers look to a glorious future for their family, one in which they claim the lands of Mantua that were once theirs.
In token of that, two of the brothers, Father Angelo and young Salvador, went to Mondavi Island to the prince's court. Don Antonio, recovering from injuries, could not himself go, but his young wives had looked forward to it so eagerly that he could not refuse to allow them to go. On the island, things went better than expected: not only did the prince agree to remove Tigran's interest in Anna, he wanted to make a match with one of his own sons to Donna Pietra. Salvador got his viscounty. Gianina became a Lachesis, and Francesca and Marco found love. So did Angelo, when he became entangled with the great strega Beatrice Caligari.
But Pietra's betrothal meant that her father would lose her; Salvador had to give up his family name for his viscounty, and his continued association with Countess Odessa put him at risk to lose more than that. The sisters lost each other when Francesca and Marco ran away at Caligari Island on the way home.
Their homecoming was bitter, but the time for grief would be short. Prince Mondavi was riding nearer, making good on his promise to visit and hear the details of Don Antonio's plan to eradicate the Caligari family...
