The Mondavi Royal Family

The Mondavi now have their own page.

The Chiarisa Court

Gianfranco Mondelli was a 25-year old Lord's Hand and a confidante of Marchese Gallisus Mondavi. Then Salvador Donati killed him in a duel.

Nicolo is a fortyish, half-Eisen, absolutely huge man serving as another Lord's Hand. Nicolo breaks bones with a cheerful enthusiasm that's almost innocent.

La Reina is the white-clad, mute, female Lord's Hand, said to be a former pirate. She wears a Squares piece - a queen, naturally - as a pin.

Marifi is Gallisus's breathtakingly beautiful Cymbr courtesan.

Celestina della Profeta Chiesa is the courtesan that Nemise du Arrent Mondavi has approved to replace Marifi.

Members of the Vaticine Church

A roster of local church officials.

In Monfalcone

Staff of the Palazzo Visconti, including Mario and the girls, Ludovico, Carmine, and (temporarily) Ercole.

Bishop Valentino Giordani, at over seventy years of age, shows no signs of slowing down. He hunts, he dances, he romances, and every so often he actually says a Mass. He is not a bad man, but he is not an especially good bishop. He does not live in Monfalcone, but Santa Sophia is within his bishopric.

Staff of the Church of Santa Sophia, including Fathers Donati, Turri, and Sergio.

Staff of the Church of Sant' Ambrogio, including Father Masacci and Maximillian.

The Sisters of Enlightened Reason, headed up by Mother Delanna, run the orphanage in Monfalcone.

In Chiarisa

Bishop Fidelio oversees a cluster of parishes on Isola Negra, from the waterfront to two stories up.

Fra Stefano is the abbot who oversees the Hospital of Sta. Francesca on Isola Negra, in Fidelio's bishopric. The monks are Francescans, of course.

In Numa

Father Tancredo once schooled the young seminarian Angelo Donati on the fine art of physical persuasion. Now in his middle sixties, he oversees the third floor of the Numan Library. He's also a member of the Society of St. Tobais.

The Society of St. Tobias are an informal group of Vaticine priests and monks who are lobbying heavily to return the seat of the church to Numa.

At Large

Brother Jacopo, first encountered at Chiarisa, was very well-informed about the supernatural troubles the Donati had encountered.

The Court of Count Barozzi

Don Enrico Barozzi, Count of Monfalcone

Donna Morena Barozzi, Countess of Monfalcone is from Castille.

The court will otherwise include their children, Don Enrico's mistress, Donna Morena's strega, and hangers-on as needed.

Masacci Family

Don Giorgo Masacci and his family are long-time rivals of the Donati. He is currently in competition with Don Antonio for the position of Viscount of Monfalcone.

Donna Rosina is Giorgio's wife. There are rumors that she's in the Tessatore, but if so, the Masacci family fortunes don't reflect it.

Father Giulia Masacci is Giorgio's eldest child and the pastor of Sant' Ambrogio.

Don Atillo is Giorgo's oldest son and heir; he has a temper.

Don Ramon is Giorgio's younger brother; he serves as the family's emissary to the Barozzi court.

Donna Ippolita is Ramon's wife.

Don Matteo, their son, is developing a reputation as a fine military tactician and strategist. He was crippled in a duel at military academy, though, and will never effectively wield a sword himself.

St-Laurents and Blanchards

Gabrielle's family tree has its own page.

Caligari

Beatrice Caligari is considered the most powerful strega in Theah.

Aldo Falisci is Beatrice's husband; he moved to Caligari Island when they married. Aldo's marriage was a good move on Prince Donello's part, but a sacrificial one - Aldo has no influence and no pull with the Caligari. He consoles the loss of his self-respect with four courtesans (Bimba, Belladonna, Auretta and Helga), a Vesten lover, Vanya, and all the best amusements Caligari's money can buy.

Other People

Renato Vasari was trying to start a secret chapterhouse of the Rose+Cross with Don Antonio's blessing.

Sero, a half-Cymbr benandanti who assisted in putting Angela to rest, and who Antonio suspected of being there to assassinate Gabrielle. Owing to a misunderstanding, Antonio thinks that Sero was "gotten rid of" by Salvador when he was actually just gotten rid of and sent on his way.

Vanessa Janssen is the daughter of a Vendel merchant family from Eskilstuna. She's currently spying on the Caligari in her role as "Vanya." Previously, she had a love affair with Don Salvador Donati.

Lady Manon Fauchon dul Motte is a member of the Montaigne gentry and one of the young, pretty people invited to Countess Odessa Blanchard's parties.
