Pierre Arronax
- Farley
- I am talking to Pierre Arronax, who was taken prisoner months before my ship was sunk. Pierre, you are a scientist?
- Arronax
- Yes. I am a biologist. I have written several books including one on ocean life.
- Farley
- And you were in search of the sea monster that was sinking ships?
- Arronax
- Yes.
- Farley
- Did Nemo sink your ship also?
- Arronax
- He ended up crippling the Abraham Lincoln. She did not sink, though.
- Farley
- And Nemo has been treating you alright?
- Arronax
- Yes, the same as you.
- Farley
- Does anyone have an escape plan to get us off this boat? You or Ned?
- Arronax
- I'm not so sure I want to leave.
- Farley
- Pierre, why not?! Why would you want to stay aboard the Nautilus?
- Arronax
- I have my studies and can do my research. I can now complete my undersea studies.
- Farley
- But you know Nemo is a pirate and a murderer.
- Arronax
- What choice do we have here? Didn't Nemo give you the same choice that he gave us-live here or die?
- Farley
- But aren't we accomplices to his acts of vengeance?
- Arronax
- Who's going to stop him, Justin? Certainly not you or I. Whatever the governments of the world throw at him, he can scoff at and laugh-.
- Farley
- Nemo doesn't laugh. Do you know where he is from?
- Arronax
- No. Anytime I have tried to hint around at his origins, he throws me off.
- Farley
- He did tell me about his wife and the torture they endured.
- Arronax
- Sure. He wants his enemies to know why he is punishing them.
- Farley
- Who are his enemies?
- Arronax
- I'm not exactly sure. Possibly everyone.
- Farley
- His enemies, whoever they are, have much to fear.
- Arronax
- Yes.
- Farley
- I wonder where and when this is going to end, Pierre.
- Arronax
- I don't know, Justin. The governments won't catch him. As for us, if we don't confront Nemo and cause no trouble, we'll remain alive.
