Nautilus
- Farley
- The Nautilus is truly a masterpiece. Is this the knowledge they tortured you for?
- Captain Nemo
- The powersource is what they wanted. This energy supply had many applications.
- Farley
- What is this powersource?
- Captain Nemo
- It is an energy derived from the sun. That is all you're going to know.
- Farley
- What about your crew? Couldn't one of them escape and become rich from that knowledge?
- Captain Nemo
- Mr. Farley. I have made certain that no one but myself fully comprehends the workings of this ship-including the source of its power.
- Farley
- Do you not trust your men?
- Captain Nemo
- Definitely. If they want money, they can obtain it much easier. I have a mountain of gold and jewels at the bottom of several oceans.
- Farley
- Yet you don't tell them completely of the workings of this ship.
- Captain Nemo
- I alone possess that knowledge and it will remain that way.
- Farley
- It is interesting how you made this ship to look like a sea monster.
- Captain Nemo
- To feed on man's ignorance, superstition, and fear. If they believe this boat to be a sea serpent, the better for me.
- Farley
- You sank the ship I was on. Doesn't that make you no better than your enemies? (He looks at me coldly. I remember the power of this man and quickly move on.) You have quite a home here under the sea. How do you get new supplies?
- Captain Nemo
- Everything I have comes from the sea-food, clothes. I receive nothing from the earth.
- Farley
- What about new works being made-art, music and especially books?
- Captain Nemo
- The world as far as I am concerned is dead and gone. It no longer exists.
