EPISODES - CAST - IMAGES - MOVIES - LINKS - CRUSADE ABOUT CRUSADE:Warner Brothers' follow-up series from the creators of the Emmy Award- and Hugo Award-winning series Babylon 5. Gary Cole, Tracy Scoggins, Daniel Dae Kim, David A. Brooks, Marjean Holden, Carrie Dobro and Peter Woodward all starred in CRUSADE, which came outon TNT in early 1999. Douglas Netter and series creator J. Michael Straczynski will executive-produce for Babylonian Productions.
CRUSADE begins in the year 2267, two years after the Telepath War. After a
savage attack on Earth by the Drakh, allies of the evil Shadows. Earth's humans
have succeeded in defeating the alien force, but not its final revenge: a
biogenetic plague that will eliminate all human life on Earth in five years,
unless a cure can be found. The White Star fleet -- led by the advanced
prototype warship Excalibur -- combs the ruins of races far more advanced than
humans to find the cure that will save them. "It will show more diversity in it's
exploration of alien worlds, civilizations and cultures than has ever been done
before for television; it's characters will grow and change and become more than
they thought possible; the science will be some of the most accurate yet in how
we present those worlds (thanks to the intercession of some of the most
brilliant minds in space research who have recently enlisted in the cause of
providing technical support for Crusade); it will continue to be written for
adults while attempting to awaken the sense of wonder that is part and parcel of
classic science fiction; there will continue to be no cute robots or teenage
wizkids; it will not talk down to the audience; and it will continue to present
questions that have no easy answers and no quick solutions. "And there's something called an apocalypse box, which one of these people has (the Excalibur crew), and who should definitely not have it, since everyone who has ever owned an apocalypse box has died under strange and extremely unpleasant circumstances." J. Michael Straczynski, Creator and Executive Producer The Crusade series was cancelled by TNT in 1999 after finishing just 13 episodes. As yet the series hasn't been continued by any other networks. In 2001 the Sci Fi Channel reran the 13 episodes along with reruns of Babylon 5.
