The Ridges of Pern


The Ridges of Pern is a Play-by-E-mail Role Playing Game I'm in that is based on Anne McCaffrey's Pern. It's really cool and if you like Pern, I highly recommend joining. I was on the Board for six months and I have uh... 16 personas. I suppose you would like to know some more about it, huh? Well, read on!

The Ridges of Pern is set in an alternate 10th Pass. The events in All the Weyrs of Pern never took place, so AIVAS was not found and Thread was not stopped. The Ridges of Pern takes place on the Southern Continent. There are two weyrs, Ridge Crest Weyr and Dark Ridge Weyr; two holds, Ridge Crest Hold and Lizard Ridge Hold; and the newly-opened weyrhold, Silver Ridge Weyrhold. At Ridge Crest Hold there is Dolphineer Hall and Harper Hall and at Lizard Ridge Hold there is Baker Hall, Healer Hall, and Weaver Hall(one of my 'sonas is the Hallmaster of Weaver Hall). There is also a Mining Hall that is part of Lizard Ridge Hold, but not as close to it as the other Halls.(see map) Would you like to know a little about the 'sonas I have? Here's a list of my personas. First, a little bit about each and then you can go look at their sheets. Mara was my first. She is also my favorite. Then came R'nar, Mara's best friend. Then Epona, because I wanted a dolphineer and I had mentioned her in a few posts as Mara's friend. I'm not sure which was next, either M'dalen or K'san. Probably M'dalen. Melaria was created because I won the Weaver Hallmaster position. I thought she was going to be my last 'sona, but the limit was raised and I created Mwynen because I wanted a greenrider. J'nen was created because I won the wingleader position for one of the new Silver Ridge Weyrhold. Crista was my board-approved 9th persona(the limit is 8, any after that have to be approved). I created her to be Mara's friend at the weyrhold. Then we have this thing called free personas. Each month there's a certain type of persona you can create that won't count toward your limit. November of 1999(which also marked the 1 year anniversery of when I joined Ridges) was male candidates. So I created Gariant, Mara's half-brother. December freebie was Bakers, so I created Farin, a senior journeyman. While writing for Melaria's daughter Kelaria, an NPC, I became rather attached to her and asked the board if I could have another PC. They said I could, so Kelaria became my newest PC. I realized I didn't have a female persona at RCW, so I asked permission to create Greenrider Aileen. I wanted another herder(the Herder Master spot is up for grabs soon) so I asked for permission to create Journeywoman herder Suhzee. Weavers and Blueriders were freebies in March, so along came Dinler and F'ber. Okay, now you can take a look at their sheets.

Good news! G'riant Impressed brown Zorketh from Mayenth's clutch on month 8, day 26 of the 24th turn. Kelaria Impressed green Merideth from Darienth's clutch on month 9, day 2 of the 24th turn. To my great delight and excitement, Mara Impressed gold Aureliath from Brith's clutch on month 9, day 28 of the 24th turn!!!!! Epona surprisingly Impressed green Eramyth from the stands at Zennith's clutch on month 10, day 14 or the 24th turn.
