DEMONIC CONSPIRACY? One a month - a different conspiracy theory - one which involves satanic supernatural beings. When will they make an end? The strange events which led to the worldwide Flood are certainly alluded to in nearly every ancient mythological legend. Superbeings (one part terrestrial, the other celestial) have always wreaked havoc with the natural order and consistently demand obedience from their earthly subjects. Their ability to perform supernatural "signs and wonders" made news among the ancients, even as it does today. There is a great deal revealed in the Bible about spirit beings. They can appear in human form, eat food, and physically move about. They are known as the "principalities" behind certain world powers - all used in God's Grand Plan. Scripture warns against meddling with such evil spirits. The punishment for sorcery, witchcraft, astrology, divination and the like are severe -- death. Still there are many who practice the ancient black arts and seek to acquire supernatural powers. This is very much in evidence today. Many who study the Word of God in humble prayer instinctively believe that the recent "alien" encounters are also demonic and are just another precursor to the end-time events prophesied so often in the Scripture. Some also believe that the coming one-world leader called "antichrist" will boast of an "alien connection." What can we do if this is, in fact, the case? Ephesians 6 tells us we "wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Our armor against angelic beings who are infinitely more powerful in this realm can only come from Our Savior. He has already crushed the head of the serpent who delivered a mortal bite to His human heel. There are SIX bona-fide elements in the armor described by Paul. The seventh is prayer -- the most powerful of all. Heed well the signs of these perilous times. They may be downright scary but true believers have NOTHING to worry about. Our eternal future has been bought and paid for at Calvary's Cross. All that remains is to occupy ("live pragmatically" in the Greek) and commit your renewed mind to serving God and mankind with the truth that liberates. |
