Spider-Man Issues from August, 1998

The Sensational Spider-Man # 30

SESP#30 While Spider-Man and Black Cat were investigating the desapearence of a boy called Dougie Horton, they were captured by the villainous Arcade, and they passed for a lot of dangers in Arcade's special deathtrap called Murderworld, even fighting robots duplicats by themselves.

Meanwhile, J. J. Jameson met the freelance reporter, Billy Walters, who have been investigating Norman Osborn's dark activities, and received information about the Allison Mongrain's dirty work done for him.

The wall-crawler and his feline friend defeated Arcade in a tough tussle and released Dougie for his prision.

Later that afternoon, Peter dealt with the Hope Hibbert situation, his deaf neighbour girl, who he imagined know his secret identity, discovering to his immense relief that she did not know he was Spider-Man, only that she'd seen Spider-Man crawl into Peter's window and wondered if he did Peter any harm. He calmed her saying that Spidey have been there that night to give him some information that he have needed for work, for his job in the Daily Bugle.

The Amazing Spider-Man # 437

Spider-Man saved a boy from a gang in the Central Park, without knowing that boy was Synch, from the Generation X group.

In the underground, a menacious villain called Plantman intended to defeat the Generation X, starting by Synch, that was close to his hidden place. He sent a mutated flower against him. It blowed him with its mutagenic pollen and mutated him in a grotesque and rampaging giant creature.

Spidey appeared and fought the creature, defeating him, when tendrils of a giant plant captured the mutated Synch and took him to the underground.

The wall-crawler followed Synch to the dark depths and have been captured by the plants, faced the Plantman, and have been turned into a half-man half-spider by the fiend's mutator plants.

The mutated Spider-Man teamed up with Generation X member, Synch against Plant-Man. They fought a lot of plant-creatures before they had been able to capture the Plantman and force him to give them an antidote, becoming normal men again.

Peter Parker Spider-Man # 94

Story & Art: Howard Mackie, John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna
PPSM#94 Despite beeing cleared of the murder charges against him, the webspinner still wanted to know who the small-time hood was he'd been accused of kiling - Joey Z.

Jill Stacy, to an even greater extent, wanted to know the secret of Joey Z, hoping that such knowledge would bring her closer to the man she saw at the center of her cousin Gwen's death - Spider-Man. She investigated the underwold, trying to get a clue that explained the life of Joey Z. The wallcrawler followed her steps, fearing for her life. In his Peter identity, he found her in the entrance of the Hellfire Club, where they weren't permitid to enter when Jill asked about Joey Z.

After that, they talked about the Gwen's death at the hands of the Green Goblin. Suddenly, they have been atacked by a criminal called as the Ox, who kidnapped Jill, leaving Peter behind.

Changing to his Spider-Man identity, Peter closed a whole street with his webbing and caught the gangster's car. He struggled against the Ox and his gang. Spidey won but the Ox was able to stole a car and run away.

But an answer was not found, and Jill continued obsessed. Then, later that night, Spider-Man visited Jill's house and invited her to talk about her cousin and try to put both their bad dreams to rest.

The Spetacular Spider-Man # 260 (Goblins at the Gate - Part 2)

Co-Plotter: Roger Stern, Co-Plotter/Scripter: Glenn Greenberg, Penciler: Luke Ross, Inks: Al Milgrom
Roderick Kingsley, who was sprung from jail by Norman Osborn because he let it slip that he had possession of a Norman's journal proving that the millionaire was the Green Goblin, faced Osborn and the Green Goblin together, discussed with him and had been taken to a Norman's hideout.

Spider-Man investigated almost whole New York, trying to find a trace of the escaped prisoner, but all his efforts were useless.

Later, Kingsley said to Norman that the key to retrieving the diary was to locate and abduct Roderick's brother, Daniel, who was in police custody since his brother's jailbreak. Then, Osborn sent Kingsley in his guise as Hobgoblin to abduct his brother, Daniel, with Osborn's surrogate Green Goblin along as back-up, without his knowledge.

When Spider-Man showed up to prevent the kidnapping, the Hobgoblin had already arrived there and defeated the policemen. The webspinner fight against his old enemy protecting Daniel, until he was hit by a tranquilizer dart from the hidden Green Goblin.

Finnaly, the webspinner laid unconscious and the Hobgoblin was preparing to unmask him.
