"Tyger" Tanaka

"Tyger" Tanaka cuts an impressive figure - at his physical peak and moving with all the grace of his namesake - and has already in his short career caused the Conventions of the Technocracy a great deal of inconvenience .

Tyger cannot remember much of his past prior to his Awakening - finding himself with a group of mages in Cardiff Rugby Stadium, South Wales after a riotous party. Vague memories of training in Tibet were intermingled with recollections of being tested in a laboratory of some kind. Before he could ask anyone who they were, the group was attacked by Men In Black Riotgear in an apparent police raid. The group, consisting of Tyger, Kurt, Brian, Kang Woo and Donald escaped and fled to London where they encountered Gareth and the Hounslow Posse.

Tyger grew to be the leader of this group during its conflicts with local Sabbat and the machinations of Agent Stevens, taking charge in combat and acting as a voice of common sense in the wildly divergent paradigms of those around him. From possessing nearly no personality at all beyond basic feral instinct, Tyger has developed a calm centre and a sense of honour - though he still displays an unnerving tendency to play with his opponents when he has them out-matched.

Tyger disappeared for a while after his group came into conflict with Philip Meander and his demonic patron Drakonskyr. The node being used by the barabbi-Void Engineer was sealed during the conflict, and the backlash of energies triggered a particularly deep period of Quiet in Kurt in which he retreated into a fantasy world, pulling his companions with him.

Tyger and his companions awoke in a forest, with no sign of Kurt anywhere to be seen, and worked their way through Kurt's mindscape, unaware of the true nature of the terrain they travelled until they reached the fortess-town where his consciousness resided.

Realising that the only way to break the Quiet was to slay Kurt's analogue in the Dreamscape, Tyger advocated finding another way out, with the aim of returning when they had the knowledge to bring Kurt back without harming him. By means of Mind and Spirit magics, the group fled into the Umbra - travelling first by way of Arcadia and then descending into the Deadlands.

Exactly what happened during that time is sketchily placed at best, and the next time Tyger was encountered was by Walks-Into-Madness, who pulled him back onto Earth from within the Penumbra, rescuing him from pursuing entities with too many tentacles.

Brad and Tyger shared information on their shared experience of Drakonskyr before going their separate ways - Tyger joining up with Jim Saunders, Nathaniel and Rikki Tanbrit and heading back to Britain. They were later rejoined by Brad briefly while Tyger underwent a deeper revelation of Arete, Brad helping to guide Tyger through the vision-quest, before the group encountered the Umbral Lord Hayte - who revealed to Tyger disturbing news of his origins and history with the Progenitors

The new-formed group has split up in the aftermath of Nathaniel's apparent death - Tyger returning to London where he plans to raise awareness of Drakonskyr's manipulations and gather forces to combat the demon the next time it manifests...all the while pondering Hayte's news, and what it means to him.
