On 6 August 1841 when Sarah Ann was 22, she married William Shinpaugh, in Knox Co., TN. Born on 16 July 1818 in Knox Co., TN. William died in Knox Co., TN, on 31 October 1903; he was 85. Buried on 3 November 1903 in Mt. Pleasant Cem., Hickory Creek; Knox Co., TN.

Attended school only about twelve months.
Republican in politics and Methodist Episcopal in religion.
William came from Roane to Knox County about 1833 and settled first in Hardin Valley. He moved to Hind's Valley about 1860. He always farmed and was quite successful. (From History of Knox Co., TN, p. 1048)
