On 2 March 1856 when Mary Elizabeth was 15, she first married Thomas W. Mardis, in Blount Co., AL. Born on 18 October 1835.

1994, 5 Aug: Visited his grave in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Blount Co., AL, 2.5 miles north of Snead, AL, west of Hwy 75 on County Rd. 21. --Inscription: "A sinner saved by grace."

On 1 November 1866 when James W. was 24, he married Sarah C. Mayberry/mabry, in Blount Co., AL.

2539. Emily Jane Buckalew. Born on 6 July 1844 in Gwinnett Co., GA. Emily Jane died in Blount Co., AL, on 24 November 1878; she was 34. Buried in Pleasant Grv Cem, Blount Co., AL.

On 27 September 1860 when Emily Jane was 16, she first married Thomas Wesley Gazaway, in Blount Co., AL. Born about 1840 in GA. Thomas Wesley died in 1861/1865; he was 21.

Died in Civil War.

Mrs. Emma Porter Woodall relates that her grandmother, Mary Jane Gazaway Woodall, told her that Thomas Wesley Gasaway, her (Emma's) great grandfather, was hanged from an oak tree in the yard of their home during the Civil War.

Emily Jane Buckelew Gasaway married William Latham 7 Oct 1868. To this union a son, James Franklin Latham, was born in 1875, half-brother of william John and Mary Jane Gasaway.

After Emily Jane's death in 1878 William John and Mary Jane Gasaway lived with their grandparents, John Buckelew and his second wife, Mahulda.

E-mail from Richard L. Buckelew, 20 Mar 1998: "Picked up a lot of information on John Eligah Buckelew. I assume this is John Buckelew's son. He had a page of deeds/mortgages in the book. Her
death was carried in the 28 Feb 1907 Southern Democrat. J. E and F. E. lived at Bright Star. Both his and her deaths were special articles. He was 70 years old when he died of Stomack cancer."

On 16 November 1865 when John Elijah was 20, he first married Feraby Eliza Murphree, daughter of James Murphree & Evaline, in Blount Co., AL. Born on 21 November 1838 in AL. Feraby Eliza died in Blount Co., AL, on 29 January 1907; she was 68. Buried in Pleasant Grove C, AL. Nickname: Elzie.
