About 1912, after the death of his second wife in Blount Co., AL, he moved his family to Franklin Co., AL.
In the early 1920s John Gasaway moved from Franklin Co., AL to LaGrange, GA to work in a textile mill, and he lived there until his death. Moving with him were daughters, Ella and Nora, and their children. Ella and Nora remained in GA and raised their families. Both are buried in GA.

On 23 December 1883 when William J. was 22, he first married Simantha Callie Pugh, daughter of William Green Pugh & Rhoda Angaline Carr, in Blount Co., AL. Born on 2 November 1865 in Blount Co., AL. Simantha Callie died in Blount Co., AL, on 20 September 1904; she was 38. Buried in Pleasant Grove Cem, Blount Co., AL.

On 8 February 1883 when Mary J. was 19, she married Zachariah A. Woodall, son of Isham Woodall & Sarah A., in Blount Co., AL. Born in 1865 in Blount Co., AL. Zachariah A. died in Lawrence Co., TN, in 1942; he was 77. Buried in Dunn Meth. Cem., Lawrence Co., TN.
