Much, if not most, of the information about the descendants of Leonora Buckelew was provided by Becky Singletary.

On 11 November 1887 when Leonora was 19, she married Joseph Brown Moore, son of David J. Moore Moore & Nancy L. Wilson, in Carroll Co., GA. In home of bride's parents.

They had one child:

4663. James Garland Buckalew. Born on 13 September 1870 in Zebulon, Pike Co., GA. James Garland died in Mt. Zion, Carroll Co., GA., on 11 August 1935; he was 64. Buried in Un. Meth. Ch., Mt. Zion, Carroll Co., GA.

He and wife took care of nephew, Olin Garland Moore, until Joseph Brown Moore remarried.

On 29 January 1898 when James Garland was 27, he first married Mabelle Smith, daughter of Smith, in Carrollton, Carroll Co., GA. Born on 9 April 1876 in Carrollton, GA. Mabelle died on 13 March 1908; she was 31.

In letter from Lenora B. (Mrs. James M.) Williams; 408 Sunbrook Ave.; Birmingham, AL 35215 re. "Trummie D. Buckelew." Paternal family moved to Carroll co., GA. Lived at Mt. Zion, GA, northwest of Carrollton. Had bought about 100 acres of land. "Children of this marriage... Sons: Lawrence, Ray, and T.D., Jr.; daughters: Grace (Weinberg), Myrl, Maude, and Lemma." Later (Trummie) lived in Virginia. Trummie was a traveling salesman. Ron's list (see below) of sons Trummie D. Buckelew are the same as mine but the daughters are not all the same. I can't account for that. I do know that a daughter was named Grace and one was Lemma. (She may really be the Peggy in his listing.) Not sure about the others. "

Trumer D. Buckelew, Jr. Had four sisters & two brothers;

Sonia Jager (married name) deceased but lived in Burbank CA - no children

Peggy Kahl (married name) last known living in Atlantic City, NJ

Myrle, married Herman Fellman (both deceased lived mostly in New York City but retired to Clearwater FL)

Grace, married Sol Weinberg (last known living in Charlottesville, VA in nursing home) two daughters still live in Charlottesville, VA

Duma Ray (deceased but lived in Atlanta, GA) not sure if wife is living

Trumer D. Buckelew, Jr. had two children; Ronald Wayne Buckelew, born 12 Sep 1939 and Carolyn Loretta, born Jan.13, 1944 in Roanoke, VA. Carolyn Loretta married Robert Young Sept.1, 1967 and had two daughters; Miche', born July 16, 1971 and Angela, born May 25, 1976. Carolyn Loretta divorced Robert Young April 1978 Carolyn re-married Jeff Pursell June 11, 1981. Carolyn presently residing in Virginia Beach, VA with her husband. Daughter, Miche' married Lawrence Tentor December 2, 1996 and presently living in Blacksburg, VA. Second daughter, Angela strangely enough went to college at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on a soccer scholarship and is receiving her accounting degree May 1998 and has a job with Price Waterhouse, CPA in Atlanta, GA beginning September 1, 1998. So family remains in GA.


Ronald Wayne Buckelew, born September 12, 1939 in Roanoke, County, VA. Married Joyce Ann Prillaman June 25, 1960; had two daughters; Terri Lynne, born 19 May 1963, married James Robert Moore, 5 Jan 1985 and had one son, Jamie Wayne Moore, born 28 Jan 1991; currently living in Roanoke, Virginia. Terry Lynne Moore divorced James Robert Moore 1997.

Wendy Michelle Buckelew, born 10 July 1965, married Joseph Daniel McClain 30 June 1991. Wendy had twin daughters; Amber Danielle McClain and Kaley Gabrielle McClain, born 9 Dec 1995; currently living in Scottsburg, IND.

Trumer D. Buckelew died in Roanoke so I should be able to find some public records.
I have written for my father's birth certificate in GA but I have not heard anything as of this date. This is all that I can come up with now but I will send you info as I receive it if this is o.k. with you. I am sending a copy of this to any Buckelew that has an email address.

On 6 February 1898 when Trumer Daniel was 23, he married Ella Dee Hughens, in Carroll Co., GA. Born in 1882. Ella Dee died on 11 March 1969; she was 87. Buried on 14 March 1969 in Evergreen Cem.; Roanoke, VA.

I had at first received Ella Dee's maiden name as "HUGHENS."
On 13 July 2001, Charles M. Richeson, Jr., her grandson shared the following: "I had some notes written by Trumer D. Buckelew's wife, Dee. She said she was a Hudgins in those notes."

 Les,     I noticed that Charles M. Richeson, my cousin, said our grandmother's maiden name was Hudgins.  I have a copy of the burial permit and the obituary for Trumer D. Buckelew, Sr. and it states, "Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ella Dee Hughens Buckelew." I also have a letter from her daughter, Grace, that states that her mother's maiden name was Hughens. A few years ago, I had an e-mail from a relative of hers, and his last name was Hughens. I corresponded with him and he gave me additional information on the Hughens family.    Doug

On 15 September 1917 when Minnie Blanche was 27, she married Arthur Barney Higgins, son of Thomas A. Higgins & Bessie Hagem Shinn. Born on 15 November 1898 in Carroll Co., GA. Arthur Barney died in Birmingham; Jefferson Co., AL, in April 1931; he was 32.
