The Garden of Atheism

Welcome to The Garden of Atheism. I created this site with the intent of bringing atheists together through the internet while dispelling the myths of religion. I wanted to help work towards the goal of peace and tolerance for atheists within the United States while encouraging debate and the use of rational thought. As some of my returning visitors will see, my attitude has completely changed.

I have spent a few years conversing and debating with fellow atheists online and occasionally in real life. I have found most atheists to be intellegent warm people, and others to be downright nasty. I had considered myself to be one of the "nice" ones who always demanded acceptance of all religions. I defended Christians who I thought had been treated unfairly as individuals by intolerant atheists.

Since then I have realised that the typical atheist is an apologising coward who has no intention of doing any work to make any changes to the unfairnesses Christianity has dealt atheists as a whole. The typical atheist doesn't deserve even a moment of the time I spend trying to make a change. These atheists are the atheists who keep quiet about their beliefs when Christians put up billboards to evangelise. These are the atheists who quibble about the boyscouts while the religious right initiates prayer in our schools. These are the atheists who pretend to say grace to please their families and coworkers and friends. These are the atheists who say nothing while we are accused of the school shootings. You know who you are!

This page from now on is going to represent what atheism should be, not what it actually is. We are not going to tolerate Christianity constantly shoving their religion down our throats. We are not going to fear losing our jobs because we are atheists. We are going to sacrifice our precious comfort zone, lose a few supposed friends, and have our voices heard for the first time ever.

On this site, I am showing you what we have as atheists. Here is where our power is. There are famous atheists out there who are respected. There are thousands of documents that support our arguments. There are places to communicate with other atheists online to get that much needed feeling of comunity in a country where there is none. Please take advantage of what I have offered you here and consider the importance of saying what you believe out loud where people can hear you.
