Folks, I am NOT a Doctor !!!

Most headaches are due, in one way or another, to diminished oxygen flow
to the brain. The diminished oxygen (or blood) flow may be caused
by a variety of physical conditions.
The GOOD news is, that MOST headaches can be eliminated
without the use of drugs.
Always make sure that you drink enough water.
Without the proper amount of water in the blood, the body has a more
difficult time moving oxygen and other nutrients throughout the system
and removing toxins and waste products from the tissue and organs.
Some headaches may be due to muscular tension constricting and reducing
the blood flow, others may be the result of vertebral mis-alignment
of the cervical spine and sinus pressure may be the reason for other headaches.
Of these, most may be relieved through the use of (or a combination of)
massage, accu-pressure, stretching and breathing.
The following techniques may enable you to rid yourself of headache pain
yourself... or, if your lucky, with the help of someone that also wants
to help you to be free of pain.
POSITIONING :
For most of the following, my position of choice is lying down on the floor
with the legs bent at the knees and the feet and calves resting on a chair,
so that the small of the back has the maximum possible contact with the floor.
SINUS HEADACHES
While lying down in a comfortable position,
locate the three (3) sets of points on the chart below,
using the tips of the fingers and proceed from the top, down.
The Sinus Points
The 1st points feel like notches in the bone above the eyes.
They can be found by placing the tips of the fingers on the bone
just under the eyebrow above the pupil and moving towards the nose...
If the sinuses are swollen, these points may be painful
when pressure is applied. Pressure should be applied gently at first
and then increased as tolerance will allow and held for at least two minutes.
The Second points feel like slight 'divots' or depressions in the bone
on both sides of the nose, about half way between the eyes and the lips.
These points may also be sensitive to direct pressure when the sinuses
are swollen, but pressure should be applied in the same manner.
(gently, and slowly increasing as tolerance allows)
The Third set of points are 'clearance points' located approximately
two thumb widths below the collarbone, on an imaginary line between
the nose and the nipples.
These are crucial points for re-establishing the circulation
of the lymph and allowing it to be filtered and re-nourished.
Locate these points and apply pressure for at least two (2) minutes.
TENSION HEADACHES
Often, muscular tension in the neck and shoulder areas can restrict blood flow
by constriction of the blood vessels decreasing the amount of oxygen
to the brain and resulting in headaches.
These tight muscles may also, at times, cause cervical vertebrae to move,
resulting in further oxygen deprivation to the brain.
Range of Motion stretches in conjunction with relaxing the muscles can be
extremely helpful in repositioning mis-aligned vertebrae.
Releasing tight or spasmed muscles in the neck can be accomplished
with stretches, massage and the breathing method mentioned below.
While there is no substitute for the knowledgeable touch of a talented therapist...
most of these muscles can also be located and released by
the individual in pain.
If you're doing this yourself, try the following...
while lying on your back in a comfortable position.
By placing the right hand on top of the head and gently stretching the neck
towards the right shoulder, the left hand is free to search for tight muscles
and survey the left side of the neck and shoulder.
By slightly turning the head in degrees, while the neck is being tractioned,
the left hand can zero in on the center of the tense muscle(s)...
once found, mentally focus on the tension or spasm and draw in a deep breath
slowly through the nose and hold it for 5 to 10 seconds
while you focus on the tightness you've found...
then as you exhale...
let it WHOOSHhhh ... out of your mouth consciously releasing
all muscle tension as you let go of the breath ...
then move to the next area of tightness... and repeat again when you have located
the next painful area...
Repeat this procedure for the opposite side of the neck as well.
HAND & FOOT REFLEX POINTS
There are reflex points in the hands and feet that correspond
to various areas of the body.
The Head and Sinus points in the feet are located in the toes
and may provide a degree of relief when massaged and tractioned.
Even more effective effective relief may be obtained by massaging
the area in the hand between the thumb and index finger.
Start at the bottom of the " V " formed buy the bones of the thumb
and index finger and apply firm pressure to both sides
with the opposite hand.
Using a circular motion, search for tight (painful) areas of muscle
Once found, hold a steady pressure and breathe in the manner described above.
As the tension diminishes, continue the circular massage motion
until another area is located and repeat.
Treat BOTH hands in the same manner.

Sinus and Lymphatic Points
Here are the points for clearing the sinuses and re-establishing lymph circulation.
Locate the points, apply gentle pressure and gradually increase and hold
for about two minutes in each spot.
These points may be treated anytime there are sinus problems,
but should ALWAYS be used at the end of a Lymphatic treatment !!!
