TEXT OF PAGE 3. OF SEPTEMBER 17, 1984 STATEMENT TO POPE JOHN PAUL II:

The significance of this in regards to our individual, special concerns, yours for your fellow Poles and mine for my fellow Canadians, is troubling.

I haven't been asking you and the Roman Catholic Church to abandon the integrity of your faith, Pope John Paul II, and i seriously doubt that the Right Reverend Robert Smith1 and the fellowship of the United Church would.
Our understanding of the goal, sir, has been that we are pursuing "a bridge between faiths," on behalf of the "human dignity"2 which all (should) possess.
In its cover story article by Arija Berzitis, "A Man For All Media", the September 8, 1984 TV Guide reports the following:

"John Paul II is visiting Canada to celebrate the Catholic faith with a large congregation, some 47 per cent of the population3 But there's his grand plan to construct a bridge between faiths. 'John Paul wants to proclaim the whole question of human dignity,'2 says (Monsignor Justin) Rigali (of the Vatican Secretariat of State), 'which belongs to everyone, whether they believe in God or not.' An objective equally important as reaching Catholics is 'to promote unity,' says Rigali, solidarity throughout the world.'"

President Reagan will be sent copies of these things as soon as i can afford to, and as soon as i have the next, possibly last before the American election, statement to him completed.
I have been re-reading the January 6, 1967 Time magazine "Man of the Year" story--the one in which they selected an entire generation, "The Inheritor", as their Man of the Year.
"Not just a new generation, but a new kind of generation," Time called us, Pope John Paul II . A generation "just getting over (its) infatuation with (former U.S. President) Jack Kennedy," Time went on to say, adding that one of us "will some day run for President himself."

Just a little more than four months before the United States' only Roman Catholic President was assassinated in Dallas, in an address at American University in Washington, John F. Kennedy said:

"If we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity."

I have also attached the copy of Mr. Trudeau 's office's March 26, 1984 letter to me for your awareness and consideration (and that of the Dean of the diplomatic corps in Ottawa, your Papal Envoy, the Most Reverend Angelo Palmas).
I didn't send you anything about this sooner, but several things were sent to Bishop de Roo and Gerald Emmett Cardinal Carter,4 our friend in Toronto, because this seemed to imply that more would follow--so i waited, and waited, and waited.

Jackson Browne was informed of the assault against me indicated in these enclosures. He "REFUSED" the very next registered letter after being so informed.

I am preparing for the "four more years of cold relations" between East and West which American experts in Moscow are predicting if Ronald Reagan is re-elected as U.S. President, Pope John Paul II.
But as the rest of my generation may not be able to prepare for that as well as i can, conceivably because this basis of authority held by me on behalf of the U.S. President(s)--and they and i thought, on behalf of our generation and the one which is now reaching maturity--has now been confirmed...i am first preparing to offer the United Nations Secretary-General, Javier Perez de Cuellar, copies of my reports to the Western authorities concerning what we had the Christian and Jewish witnesses provided with the documentation of.

I am no more a politician than is the Most Reverend Angelo Palmas.
Or than are you, Cardinal Carter, Father Massman,4 or Bishop de Roo .
Or Jackson Browne and all those musicians, sir.

In his speech to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1896, William Jennings Bryan said:

"The humblest citizen of all the land, when clad in the armor of a righteous cause, is stronger than all the hosts of Error."

3-KNOWING THIS NOW, PERHAPS VISITORS TO THIS AWARD-WINNING WEBSITE WILL APPRECIATE WHY I URGED THEN-BRITISH COLUMBIA PREMIER MIKE HARCOURT TO ASK THE THEN-CANADIAN CONSTITUTIONAL AFFAIRS MINISTER--AND RECENTLY RESTORED CANADIAN FEDERAL PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY LEADER--JOE CLARK WHAT IS INDICATED IF YOU TAKE A BRIEF SIDESTEP HERE.

4-GERALD EMMETT CARDINAL CARTER WAS THE CARDINAL OF THE TORONTO ROMAN CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE WHEN I LIVED IN THAT CITY IN 1979-82.
FATHER MASSMAN WAS A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE AT THAT TIME.
THE ARCHDIOCESE ARRANGED FOR ME TO PERSONALLY MEET WITH THEIR ADVISER TO THE UNITED NATIONS "YEAR OF THE CHILD" IN 1979. I MET FATHER MASSMAN IN THAT PERIOD OF TIME.
