With the advent of broadband and accellerated web connection speeds, streaming video/audio presentations have become a popular thing on the web. New hosting services designed to support your streaming video have cropped up, and the costs of hosting such content has fallen dramatically. I have been doing videography with my camcorder since 1991, so I embrace this new technology, and purchased the equipment to allow me to do professional quality editing and transitions for both web and multimedia productions. Video presentations in streaming formats offers viewers an easier method of absorbing your content, and permits the option of creating short film features, live demonstrations, broadcast journalism for the masses, and an easy way for friends and family to share events over the Internet. I create my own video content, plus offer my services to customers to archive their VHS or 8mm video to CD and can create interactive albums of photos and video taken from weddings, ceremonies, and other events. Being able to offer my clients the option of streaming video content is a bonus, most web publishers subcontract their graphics and video content and can only achieve the page construction. Being capable of handling this detail as well as the others helps keep a competitive advantage over other publishing firms and companies. Whether it's archiving my own family videos or preparing a special presentation for a client, I enjoy working in the field of non-linear video. Computer based video editing equipment has never been more affordable, and for those who own a CCD model camcorder or have home video on VHS, these tools will allow you to edit to perfection your current videos, add professional type transitions between scenes, overdub with narration or add background music. I look forward to creating my own stop frame animations and short films to be submitted to the various film festivals... let's hope I can create a winner! HINT! - Even carefully stored 8mm and VHS tape will lose it's integrity with time and age, where possible store your memories on CD (requires a CD Writer) since these have a minimum expected life span of 25 to 100 years without suffering the same degradation of quality and integrity. |
