The high mountians of West Virginia are snow covered for the most part
most of the winter. The higher elevations, where the ski resorts
are located, is where you will find the knee deep snows.
The lowland where we live, usually don't get the deep snows.
Once every two or three years we get a snow fall of anywhere from six to
eight and sometimes as much as twelve inches. Our valley regions average
snow fall is about five inches, which usually melts away rather
quickly.I have some photos of snow in and around my yard that were,
I felt, worthy of snapping.
This
photo is
taken of my rail fence.
The first rail is about eighteen inches above
the ground.
This photo was taken
in the same direction as the one above
except I'm standing on my porch
while taking it. The snow in the
lower right corner of the pic
is on my porch bannister.
Notice the date on the photo is 1-7-96.
This is taken from my porch steps.
The car is parked in the front yard.
I think we had some wind with drifting
snow during this snow fall.
Here you can see how deep the snow really is. Look on that building roof!!
This tree is in my back yard.
I'm sure any of you who live further north, see this amount of snow
as nothing. But maybe you to my far south might enjoy looking at it. Some
people get a lot more and some none at all. I'm not sure that I would like
not having any at all. Sometimes I hate it, but I'm sure I would miss it
if I lived where it never snowed.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing my little
bit of snow in my little corner of West Virginia.
