257. Jan Cornelis BOEKEMA was born on 25 Mar 1905 in Wijtgaard. March 25 is the feast of the Annunciation, one of the reasons of Dad's devotion to Mary. He emigrated in Jun 1954 from Fryslân, Netherlands to Canada. He died on 10 Mar 1999 in Arnprior, On. (hospital).

Jan Cornelis BOEKEMA and Jantje Johs. RIEMERSMA were married on 10 May 1929 in Oldeboorn. Volgens Heit zijn ze voor de wet in Rauwerd getrouwd op 8 Mei en niet in Oldeboorn. Religous marriage 11 May in Irnsum, St.Marcus' parish.

Jantje Johs. RIEMERSMA was born on 7 Jun 1907 in Huizum. She died on 23 Feb 1987 in Nepean (Queensway-Carleton hospital), Ontario, Canada. She was cremated on 26 Feb 1987 in Pinehurst Chapel, Baseline road, Ottawa. She was also known as Jane. Lost her mother when she was five years old. Raised by the "Zusters van Liefde" in Leeuwarden. Her father, Pake Johs, was a Mennonite (Doopsgezind). Her mother, Beppe Jeltje Tromp, was originally from Nijega - Schartserbrêge, got in touch with the family of Jan Jac. B. and became catholic. Later on, she became housekeeper of Pake Johs. who married her when his first wife died, with whom he had five children (Joege, Limke, Klas, Tryn and Gerrit). Sick with tuberculosis, Beppe Jeltje was visited by Mrs. Drontman, from a wealthy family in Leeuwarden, who helped her to get her four children (Christien, Hinke, Eise en Jantje) baptized before passing away. This was done without Pake Johs knowing it, who was disappointed when he found out about it, because he would have liked to be present at the baptism.
Later on, when my Dad presented for the first time my Mom to his parents, Pake Knillis discovered that he had known my Mom's mother during his schoolyears.
