Erhard came to America with his parents at the age of 17 yrs. His parents settled about 2 miles south of Cowlesville, NY on forty acres of land in the town of Bennington NY.
Erhard and Margaret first lived in Buffalo. Erhard operated a saloon. After the birth of Margaret, Christ, and Mary, they moved to a farm on Route 20A known as the Allen farm where Erhard Jr was born. They also had two sons that died in infancy. Then they moved to Dutch Hollow NY where Erhard and Margaret both died and are buried in Dutch Hollow cemetery.
Erhard was a cigarmaker.
