Descendants of John Harden

 Generation No. 1

1. JOHN1 HARDEN1 was born 1787 in Guilford County, NC1, and died January 25, 1882 in Boone County, Ia1. He married BETHANY DEAN1 Abt. 1820 in NC (?)1, daughter of DANIEL DEAN.

Notes for JOHN HARDEN:

This information comes from Mary at KMary@aol.com - found on the genealogy board on AOL

From Duane R. Finch: Mother was Wales, father from England.

Died at home of his son-in-law Rev. David Miller in Ridgeport, Iowa on January 29, 1882. According to the Boone Democrat, funeral services for John, Sr. took place at the Bass Point School House. He was buried at the Bass Point Cemetery (Location towards the rear - near the north fence in what they call Harden Row #6)

From Howard Harden: born in Guilford County, NC

More About JOHN HARDEN:

Burial: January 1882, Bass Point Cemetery, Boone County, IA

Notes for BETHANY DEAN:

From Duane Finch: She was born in North Carolina in 1795. John and Bethana moved to Indiana in the latter part of 1837. In Indiana they were farmers. This information is from the 1850 Wayne County - Green Twp. census (page 157 - family 345). After reviewing the 1850 Wayne county Census we find that an adjacent farm to John and Bethana's was a farm belonging to Armstead Dean. Armstead and his wife Elizabeth had a third child whose name was Bethana. John and Bethany's third child was named Armstead. Our conclusion is that Armstead Dean and Bethany Dean Harden were brother and sister.

From Howard Harden: Bethany's father was Daniel Dean

He came to Iowa in 1854 and settled in Mineral Ridge where he lived until his death. He was a faithful minister of the German Reformed Lutheran Church for thirty years in the state of Indiana. Many united with the church under his preaching, some living to this day. He was a man of strong physical and mental powers, a good theologian, and a good citizen.
