COURSE DESCRIPTION AND CONTENT:  CIS 2154 provides a study of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows 2000 Active Directory components.  In addition, management, monitoring, and optimization of the desktop environment by using Group Policy is covered. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, in a Windows 2000 Network the student will be able to:

Install and configure Active Directory

Install, configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot DNS for Active Directory

Implement and troubleshoot Group Policy
<     
Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot software by using Group Policy

Configure Active Directory to support Remote Installation Services (RIS)
<     
Manage, monitor, and optimize the components of Active Directory
<     
Configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot security in a Directory Services Infrastructure 

REQUIRED MATERIALS: Text book, materials for taking notes, and one three-brad folder or notebook.  The student should also have an email address that can be used for communication within this class.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION: The student is responsible for reading the assigned chapters from the text and completing assigned labs and homework assignments. The grade for the course will be based on the scores from tests, labs, and quizzes. Any homework will count as bonus points. The student must achieve a course average of 60 or better to pass this course and a grade of 70 or better for this course to serve as a prerequisite for another CIS course.

GRADING POLICY:  This is DTAE’s and Savannah Technical College’s grading policy: 

A – 90 – 100
B – 80 – 89
C – 70 – 79
D – 60 – 69
F – Below 60

 

WF – Withdraw Failing
WP – Withdraw Passing
I – Incomplete
W – Withdrawn
EX – Exempt
S – Satisfactory
U – Unsatisfactory

MAKE-UP WORK: 

Quizzes may be given at any time at the discretion of the instructor.  Any quiz not taken will be considered a zero.  The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.

Scheduled tests: The Final Exam will also count for each scheduled test that has been missed. 

Homework Assignments are due on the date specified when the assignment is made.  If a student is absent on the day the homework is due, it is the student=s responsibility to show the homework to the instructor when the student returns to class.  To be given credit for the homework assignment it must be complete.  If any part of the assignment is missing the student will not receive credit.  No homework will be accepted from students who are tardy to class.
