Although these hobby pirates were strictly for enthusiasts by enthusiasts, they are worthy of mention. These short wave stations of the late 1970's early 1980's provided fans elsewhere around Britain with the opportunity to wallow in nostalgia by conjuring up memories of the old offshore stations.
Even with relatively low power equipment, the favourable sun cycle of the late 1970's allowed reception of the signals to reach Europe, America and beyond.
There were several notable stations which broadcast around this time

After it was realised that some broadcasts were competing for the very same audience the stations met and a 'network' of sorts was formed which saw the four stations using the same frequencies on a rotation basis each Sunday. the highlight for the listening audience cam on the fifth Sunday of a month when the stations would broadcast the famous '6235 kHz Network'
