"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.Colossians 4:2 (NIV)

President Abraham Lincoln’s proclamation

of a Day of Prayer and Fasting

On March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued an historic Proclamation Appointing a National Day of Prayer & Fasting:

"Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of the Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations has by a resolution requested the president to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation.

And whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God: to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon: and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. And insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown; but we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious land, which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God who made us.

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings, that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace."

God's Biblical Blueprint for Genuine Spiritual Revival

"[I]f My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14

Thank you for your interest in prayerfully considering one of the most vital positions of support for the ministry work of Christian Impact Ministries - that of serving as a member of our Prayer Warrior Team (PWT). CIM's PWT is made up of dedicated intercessors who faithfully pray for the vital work of this Christ-centered, Biblically-based ministry on a regular basis. PWT members receive periodic updates on the on-going Kingdom work of CIM, with special prayer requests issued for upcoming events, ministry needs, the Executive Director and his family and the ministry's Board of Directors. PWT members reside in several states throughout America and even in other countries around the world.

Together with the leadership of this ministry, these PWT members pray for the leadership of CIM and its ministry support team by name, for God's wisdom in every aspect of the daily operations of the ministry, for local-state-national leaders, for God's will responding to the many spiritual-moral-cultural issues facing today's family and for respective legislative battles on those issues, and for spiritual revival for America, beginning first in our own lives and then in the community of His Church.

We prayerfully ask that those interested dedicated prayer warriors are invited to be a part of the Prayer Warrior Team because their devoted and faithful work undergirds everything which this ministry undertakes to accomplish in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

If, after time spent in prayer, you since the Lord leading to serve as a PWT member, we would then invite you to send your decision of service to either our mailing address (listed at the bottom of this page) or to our e-mail address by clicking on the response line below. Please include a brief note detailing your commitment to serve in this capacity.
