ABOUT US AND
OUR COUNTRY

Hi!  Welcome to my page.  I am Margarita, and I live in Lima, capital city of Peru, the land of the Incas, with my three furkids:  Rufus, Honey and Althea.

These are my three kids: blonde sweet Honey, black little devil Althea and black gentleman Rufus.  Seem to be prisoners?  Not at all!  They are not allowed into the laundry area for the survival of my freshly washed laundry.

These are my grandchildren!  They were born on November 1996.  It was a wonderful Christmas present!

Besides my furkids, I also love music and sing in an amateur chamber choir in Lima, called Jubilate.  Here is part of my group during an international choir festival in Santiago de Chile, where we represented our country.  I am the second from the left.

Peru is a beautiful country, with three distinctive regions:  the jungle, the highlands and the coast.  Would you like to join me in and visit some of the wonderful places my country has to offer our visitors?  Then take a look at some of the pictures I have taken during my travels within Peru.

This is the mighty Huascaran peak.  With its 6,925 mts. above sea level, it is the highest peak in Peru and one of the highest in South America.  It is located in Ancash, in the central Andes.

This is the beautiful Llanganuco lagoon.  It is located at the feet of the Huascaran peak and is formed by the melting of the mountain's snow.  My sister Monica (to the right) and friend Ana are happy to show it to you.

Here I am at the impressive Sacsayhuaman fortress.  It is believed to have been a center of adoration where the Incas celebrated the Inti Raymi, or Sun Feast.

This is the city of Cusco, capital of the Inca empire and archeological capital of South America.  Now it is a worldwide touristic center where you can find visitors from the 5 continents.

This is one of the little winding streets in Cusco.  If you are particularly observant, you can even catch a glimpse of the three “llamas” to the right of the street.

Here I am buying some andean goodies at the Sunday fair in Pisac, a beautiful town in the way to Machu Picchu.

Here we are in Machu Picchu, the sacred city of the Incas!  You have already seen the famous view of it at the opening of my Webpage.  This is another view of the citadel, with the Huayna Picchu as background.  Machu Picchu means “old mountain” while Huayna Picchu is “young mountain”.

Here I am in the Room of the Three Windows.  It is believed the chosen maidens or Virgenes del Sol lived here and they only had three tiny windows to peak out and avoid the eyes of male audiences!

My country also has a large area covered by luscious jungle.  I am sorry to say the mosquito bites have always chased me away, but here is Monica again to show you what a leafy vegetation we have!

And we have a beautiful coastline too!  This is Santa Maria beach, just 40 minutes south of Lima, where you can take a refreshing summer swim and bask in the sun.

Farther down the southern coastline is Cerro Azul, 200 km (125 miles) from Lima.  It is a dreamy beach town were you can book a hostel room and spend a relaxing vacation.  And yes, there are always surfers hoping to catch the best waves even if the sea is so calmed.

With a warm sunset like this one in Cerro Azul, you do believe all your wishes will come true.  I, for one, wish you will be visiting our country very soon!
(Guess the surfers will never give up, huh?)

Hope you have enjoyed our trip.  Please come back whenever you want, and if you are planning to visit wonderful Peru, please drop us a line!

Hope to see you back soon!
