WILLIAM AND ESTHER(KUYKENDALL)ALTOM

To avoid to much confusion I thought I would post the William and Esther line of Altoms. This William is a brother to my Spenscer and Christina(Shipman) Altom and another of the sons of James and Phebe Altom. They lived in Lawrence County Tennesse, whereas My Line were in Henderson County, Tennessee. And these are the Altom's/Altum's that settled in the southern areas of the State of Arkansas in the early 1850's. They are part of my line of Altom's but, as you can see, they branch off way back near the beginning.

Spencer and William, and John(all brothers and children of James and Phebe) were first reported on the Census of Tennessee in 1820 in Lawrence County. Afterwards my Spenser moved to Henderson County and John and family moved to Wayne County. William, however, continued to live out his life in Lawrence County. After his death in September of 1846, his children-and eventually his wife- moved from Tennessee to South Arkansas with some moving into Texas for short periods before returning to Arkansas once again.

William and Esther were married Feb. 5, 1812, in Calwell County, Kentucky. Their children were: A.J.(Andrew Jackson), Elihu, Jane, Parmelia, Elizabeth, William A., David C., John M., Phebe, and Esther. There my have been others, but these are all that I can account for. I will go into more detail on the children and their marriages on another page, but perhaps this will give you a little background information on them.
